    Grasshoppers , no experience?

We have had quite a healthy population in our canary for 3 weeks
    Damage is very minimal
Do they not like canary leaves or heads ?
    Can’t figure out what they’re eating ??

They usually go for grasses first. As they get more desperate they will go after other crops and even canola stems.

In their final act they will come to your house and eat the paint.

In Canary they nip the stem. You end up losing the whole head so keep an eye out. If it is just a few hoppers probably not economic to spray. But if they are still along the field edges it could be cheap insurance.

Anyone use Coragen? I did, at the 100ac/jug rate. Plant absorbs it and the grasshoppers have to eat some of the plant. Suppose to have 5-6days of residual at that rate. It sure doesn't work fast and doesn't wipe them out completely. 1 field got worse so I sprayed it with Decis, instant results. Don't think I'd use Coragen again, Decis is less than half the cost and it's instant.

Used the Max version at 120 acre/jug rate. Worked fine. They quit feeding and eventually died.

Did double application on the headland against source pasture which would give more residual.

According the label you used the lower rate. Was this on pasture, hay land or crop? Looking at doing a couple pastures. Have you sprayed grasshoppers before? I haven’t since 2002. I think we used Matador then. Coragen looks safer for me and for non target bugs.

Barley next to a pasture. First time ever spraying for them.

If they are in the flax that is bad.when the flax balls fill hoppers nip the stem and the balls fall on the ground.

They've got to be eating something if they've been in there for 3 weeks. You have to hit when their tiny and easy to kill

They come off the roadsides and headlands so one pass along the edge of the field when first detected controls them from moving inward.

We have done it with a successful result this year.

You have to do a lot of scouting so be prepared to get your exercise, which is good for all of us. Did many miles the last few weeks

Your threshold on numbers of them is very important as well.

Good luck, and drink lots of water.

Pretty sure there is only a 60acre and 80acre rate on the label of coragen and coragen max for Adult grasshopper. Some buyers have stated they will reject grain sprayed by Matador's active Lambda-cyhalothrin so before you spray it phone your grain buyer and double check.
