So I guess if they can't recycle tires we won't have to pay the recycling fee on every tire we buy, huh...?

Just like the used oil deal.

Went from getting paid for it when they picked it up to he would come and get it but could not pay anything for it to now I have to pay for him to pick it up.

The spot behind the shop where oil got dumped for a generation grows grass and trees just fine.

The solution to pollution is dilution. It only becomes a problem when you collect it all in one location.

Imperial Oil "remediated" all their abandoned bulk stations by putting a chain link fence around them and forgetting about them. The few I've paid attention to appear to be nicely reverting to prairie grasses. Unfortunately for the bureaucrats that solution doesn't offer much opportunity for $150,000 annual salaries to manage the situation.

Your last sentence accurately describes the state of the bureaucratic mismanagement of the reclamation industry right now. There is no budget left over to do anything by the time all of the bureaucrats and consultants and endless studies have been paid.
All to solve a non-existent problem

If you took into account the amount of fuel used, labour, vehicles, sorting, processing of recycling the cost would astronomical. Big trucks driving from village to village and cross-country picking up recycle paper, that probably goes to the dump anyway. Another, “green” big idea!

Mind boggling that Shercom is going to import crumb rubber to manufacture its products.

Like Canada shipping wood pellets to the uk to burn for heat and power.
