Carried on down to Calgary to visit some friends and take the kids to the zoo. The three year old has been fascinated with penguins and was super excited to see them there. The roads from there to Saskatoon were slushy and froze to the side of the van in an interesting pattern.
Took “highway†848 through the Red Deer River valley by Dorothy and only passed one vehicle which was an oil lease checker. Definitely wasn’t minivan friendly but ours does more off roading than most pickups do😉
Always love taking a different way when possible to see some beautiful and different countryside. Ended up in Saskatoon and found a self propelled chopper which will be quite a learning curve and change from the current pull type. Definitely looking forward to trying it out on some corn this fall.
Went north of Saskatoon before coming back west to home and it felt more like home with bush, hills and cows. Always like to do some sightseeing if possible.
Now back to fixing temperamental iron which seems to never end around here😎
Just used the calf catcher for the first time this year and blew a ball joint apart. Had to tag and move out pairs the old way with two people and it was painful and slow. I guess I’ll appreciate the catcher more when it’s back up and running😉
Actually looking forward to calving with the nice conditions so far and not having any bred heifers will hopefully make it go smoothly. Fingers crossedðŸ€

Around Regina, there’s hardly a skiff of grass showing in the countryside. For some reason when I saw April 10 on the corner of the IPad, it hit me. Yikes and tomorrow was supposed to be 22 degrees but now forecast reduced to 17. We might need an ice-breaker in front of the drills.
