    Merit

Merit Functional Foods processor is in receivership. Wow! It has just started operation and is cash short. EDC and FCC are into it. Puts everything in limbo for this year.

Much as it comes as no surprise with the buildup of niche processors and current economic climate, it is unfortunate that they and others can’t make it. We need more of these processors operating on our soil and not exporting raw goods without deriving more value at home contributing to our economy. There’s a case for business plans which have no chance of making it without government help (protein fractioning or plant based diet crap) but anything which has “merit” as a sound model should be encouraged cause the other option is CWB esque.

They have to get rid of the cows with the methane emissions restrictions before the plant based meat will go.

Europe has plans for a 30% cull coming
        soon.
The market for peas will get bigger but less feedgrains.

Trudeau and FCC loved it so much, they threw in 100 M, should have flown. 👎

We've all seen startups come and go.
Every time it's the management involved at startup that gets paid first. Sometimes very well. How it's always worked.

It's a scam. Protein industries canada is a scam.

If you can make money on 100000 tonnes of peas why were the big dogs not all over it?

The 100 million the government wasted would have built 3 large terminal capable of handling 30 times the volume.

All part of the “New Green Deal” to save us from the existential crisis called “Climate Change”….

How convenient…. Yet the “normal “ development of virtually any “New” value added processing industry…. Invariably involves the depreciation of the assets of such startups….time after time.

                  Cheers

Had the existence of this plant changed what you intended to grow? Does it going under change your plans again?
