    Corn

    Hello,

    Corn
I have a bid of $9.75 corn fob (MB RRV).
If you prefer to deliver it yourself, I can also share those bids.

Only wish I could grow corn here!
30 years ago they were telling us we would be with the always warmer record hot weather we would be getting.
    Still waiting!

Needs to be a giant leap in corn breeding before you’ll see dry corn expand to much degree out of the rrv. It’s not so much of whether it’ll work but can you grow enough bushels in our shorter seasons and the need for different equipment. Soys probably a better fit but then you run into crappy protein further north you go. Fava beans are a crapshoot whether they work year to year.

Took a couple of loads to Minnedosa plant on tuesday seemed like they are running full steam. Margins would be good between making fuel and selling by products to feed mills and such. Corn was still 27- 30 % moisture so still taking some drying time and the guys I haul for where not going at it too hard yet .

Husky has the mandate to produce all the ethanol in Manitoba. The government here gave Husky the (mandate) rights to all ethanol and they print cash for themselves. This scam (mandate or monopoly) also exists in Saskatchewan and most provinces as well. Of course we pay for the mandate when we fill up our car and when we put biodiesel in our tractor.

Husky does not have all the rights in SK. There is zero exclusivity. We have three plants. Husky in Lloyd is on the AB side. Before whining about ethanol - everyone might want to take a look at what ethanol did for agriculture since 2006...and what the RFS for aviation fuel will do for it again...

Correction. Ethanol plant at Lloyd is definitely on Sask side. So is upgrader it is hooked onto. They use extra heat from upgrader to distil the ethanol. Keeps cop down through that synergy. ADM crusher one of the largest in western Canada is on the Alberta side north of the old Peaveymart and south of refinery.

Biofuel only takes place in Canada with a mandate or a subsidy as the legislation indicates. There is a legislated requirement of both ethanol and biodiesel. Biofuel production does not take place without this legislation or outside the mandate.

                  Renewable fuels regulations
These regulations require fuel producers and importers to have an average renewable fuel content of at least 5% based on the volume of gasoline that they produce or import into Canada and of at least 2% based on the volume of diesel fuel and heating distillate oil that they produce or import into Canada. The regulations include provisions that govern the creation of compliance units, allow trading of these units among participants and also require record-keeping and reporting to ensure compliance.
