From this part-time Catholic have a Very Happy Easter. I'm stuffed from yesterday I think today will be a quiet day sleeping. Tomorrow is one trip around the sun for me again on this earth

We are very blessed in Canada that we can with freedom share our faith.

One wonders how much longer freedom of speach and movement will be allowed.

Hopefully 2022 will be a year of Jubilee… we can pay our debts off and Bless our world with plentiful healthy food. Peace , many blessings, and a safe 2022 seeding season!

Sure a widespread cool forecast. IF it happens, this has got to be one of the coldest April’s on record? No high over plus 7, and that only on one day by May? Normal high now is eleven or twelve. That’s amazing. Current forecast shows no high over five degrees up until the second of May. If that turns out to be true, there is real growing season length risk. No grass for livestock guys.

Had a bunch of relatives this weekend. My kids pulled them around on the skidoo. Lots of fun, but brrrr. Lots of areas of five foot fence still covered.

Even bird migration has stalled. No robins yet, very few geese, simply no birds yet! In my life, i do not remember this late a start to spring.

At least today is sunny and four.

2013, 2006,2001, 96,91, many years through the 70s had heavy snow late into spring with some may snow storms and has some terrific crops. Those years started out unseasonably cold in the growing season but we always seem to make up the heat units through the summer months with the exception being the august 92 snow and heavy frost.

I can dig back in the books of our farm to I believe 1950, as we had a government weather station we ran. I’ll leaf through and see if anything even close has happened like this before. Should be interesting!

I think 92 was the cold May with the leaves not coming out till June. If I remember right I think April that year was normal and then a cold NE wind all of May. Big volcano affected both 92 and 93 with 92 cold and dry and 93 cold and wet with endless rain. Both those years were tough years here!
I think this is one of the coldest Aprils I can remember and it looks like run off might not happen until the last week of April or first week of May which would be really late compared the normal for us.

Yeah that happens here every several years. Was that 1992 or 1993? 1993 we got a significant snow on about May 17th. I had just seeded my first canola crop the day before. AC excel. 50cents a lb for the seed. 3 buck an acre!

1996 we started seeding May 27th but that was because of a foot of snow in early May. Not because spring never started or because April was cold. A relative came from Toronto on around May 14th, and it was extremely cold. Grass was brown, not a stitch of green anywhere. He thought we lived in Siberia. Ha.

I have a lot of pages of records to go through. Give me a bit. All I have to do is look for highs in April over plus seven to eliminate this year as unprecedented..

A friend of mine and I plan to go ice fishing on opening day. Looks like that won’t be a stretch. That’s happened before, but usually you have to take a boat or canoe out to the ice. This year I’m thinking if the forecast stays a guy could probably just drive on!
