Except, have you seen the price of oats lately? They might not be able to afford to drive to Clydesdales either.Originally posted by Old Cowzilla View PostMight get bought out by my Amish neighbors won't be farmed by camels but it could be Clydesdales.
Or maybe that's why the price of oats got so high, they are preparing for the end of fossil fuels.

They use quite a few little tractors now in that 50 hp range for the big jobs. I think the horses are for show ( tourism ) a little part of there off farm sales thing. I don't have enough oats to buy a new truck keep dumping mine into a mixing wagon every morning so no levy here and spring better come soon cus oat bins getting pretty low.Originally posted by AlbertaFarmer5 View PostExcept, have you seen the price of oats lately? For all of you with your panties in a knot over rumors of a new $4000.00 truck levy (which by the way has been denied by the Liberals) do you know that in 2007 the Harper government actually imposed a levy of $1000 to $4000 on fuel-inefficient vehicles including large SUVs? Where was your outrage then or now as you drive your taxed Navigators or Denalis and are paying a Conservative tax on large SUVs?

Don't believe me, here is the actual tariff notice from 2007
 https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/trade-commerce/tariff-tarif/archive/tn-amt/tn21a-eng.html

And if you go to appropriately numbered page 69 of the 2007 budget you can read about the NEW GREEN LEVY that the Conservatives introduced in that budget.

For clarification, is this levy still applied today?Originally posted by dmlfarmer View PostFor all of you with your panties in a knot over rumors of a new $4000.00 truck levy (which by the way has been denied by the Liberals) do you know that in 2007 the Harper government actually imposed a levy of $1000 to $4000 on fuel-inefficient vehicles including large SUVs? You are right. Pickups were exempted. So does that justify the tax? Isa tax of others okay as longOriginally posted by Taiga View PostNo, it does not apply to pickup trucks.
As it does not affect you? Sort of like running farm plates on large SUVS? Or feedlots/farms running commercial trucking business with farm plates

No. It’s a stupid, idiotic tax regardless of who brought it in. Shame on Harper for caving to the climate extremists.Originally posted by dmlfarmer View PostYou are right. Pickups were exempted. So does that justify the tax? Isa tax of others okay as long

That you trust the liberals when they say they won’t bring it in though, is also quite silly, considering the pathological liars that they are.

The thing with the truck idea, is that the west has most of the trucks in Canada. Just another middle finger from a trudeau to the west. It sure seems to be a pattern.
