    This week in markets

Very tempting to do a little more fall canola pricing but agree need the risk covered .
Could be a wild ride for wheat this week with a big moisture / storm system skirting the winter wheat areas in the U.S. and this cold air sliding a long ways south behind it . Was up to $13.70 for June / July . Could be the top of that winter wheat gets moisture and does not freeze . Or it could go higher yet if they miss the moisture and just get the cold .
Snow for SE Sask and Manitoba hopefully does some good and soaks in later .

With alot of our input prices "locked in" via fertilizer and pre-booked chemical, has anyone considered the very real possibility that Russia decides the Donbas and a frontier about 60-100 miles out from there is enough for the time being?

Where does wheat settle after a ceasefire/victory is decided upon? Does Canola come back to, dare I say, reality once European markets aren't forced to substitute away from sunflower oil to r-a-p-e/canola oil? Does the increased planting of soybeans vs. corn stateside finally start to weigh on oil markets?

How does everyone's net profit pencil out with todays inputs and say $10 durum, $8 wheat, $12.50 canola, $7 peas, etc... Lord know's I'd love to book some stuff going forward, but all I'm guaranteed at this moment with available soil moisture is a big fat ZERO. If I do not get rainfall the end of may beginning of June, I'm up shit creek without a paddle let alone a helmet!

The other side of this is:
-what if Russia plays true to its threats and decides the Donbas isn't enough? Sure it's had its ass handed to it so far in central Ukraine, but with summer season starting, they will finally be able to roll tanks over open terrain and not be restricted to high grade roads...
Do they take everything from Kiev east and leave a rump state with no black sea access?
-Does Russia march their armor into Moldavia to secure their Transnistria claim?
-Does Russia put the push on Finland and Sweden while their NATO membership's are in application?
-Does China decide it needs to finally bring Taiwan into the fold?
-Does drought grip the western united states this year?

So many variables... How the hell does one play this effectively? For those in "sure crop" country I hope the decisions you make today bring fortune tomorrow. For those with no certainty as to what this upcoming years yield's look like, I hope like hell we're all here next year.

How much worse are supply chain snarls going to get with large cities in China under total lockdown for Covid?

All green this morning, wheat up again decent

Some frost damage on winter wheat and there will be planting delays in the northern tiers .

Looking to sell some wheat soon, who has the better basis in the Saskatoon area? Most of the companies I called this morning had a basis between 2.40 and 2.70 without any targets in, looking to hit at least $3.00.
