Looking at Farmers Edge business model I'm afraid the transparency of future carbon worth, and what you will see after their fees, could be murky. Guaranteed you will still owe them $5-$10 for now.
If someday carbon is worth $40/ac, their fee will increase to match or like a cable tv company, their package will.
We have seen many service bundling companies in our game in the past.
As well, their financials are awful.
Hopefully we can outsource specific services on this.

Remember years back viterra wanted you to sign up for sustainable production so you could sell to Europe. I could easily adhere to the conditions but screw that cause it locks you into something. Like those Duck nazis paying for grass seed. It’s all the conditions which limit your options. Farmers Edge is on its way out and you sign off on their carbon credit scheme what happens when they go bust with your data and credits? It wont disappear but end up being in others hands while you get nothing.

Went through the net carbon calculation last week... fertilizers produced through traditional manufacturing plants are massive carbon emitters. Some farmers are growing crops with 1/10th of the carbon footprint of other 'popular' systems. High P2O5 applications of traditional 11-5_-0... harrowing fields to make them 'look' nice... vertical tillage... high speed seeding... not gearing up and throttling back... when possible...

A net carbon footprint on farm operations has just begun... very revealing study!!!

I'm in no rush to get mixed up in a carbon sequestration scheme. Maintaining or increasing your soil carbon pays you back intrinsically. There is about 80 carbon market facilitators in Australia all chasing a piece of the pie. They act as the go between the farmer (or potential sequester) and the fund. Most seem to have different ways of establishing your baseline soil carbon level at the start and I think most want you to pay for the testing, like soil testing down to one meter. Anyways lots of fine print and ambiguity I don't trust.
