The Digital Battlefield...Ukraine vs Russia...War in 2022 is 'different'

    "Ukraine’s ‘IT Army’

We’ve created an IT army, which was joined by 200,000 people and those individuals that wanted to help Ukraine to fight against Russia. So on the first day, we completely took down the Kremlin website, their stock exchange web services, their government services portal was down and there’s so much more still down. And it turns out, they were not ready.

We’ve been attacked for eight years. And I can compare this with Microsoft Windows, because so many hackers wanted to break Microsoft Windows for so many years, so eventually they built the most protected operating system—you can’t just penetrate it because they had so much experience in protecting their system. So I think a very similar thing happened with Ukrainian cyber infrastructure.

Cutting Russia off from the digital economy

Hundreds of companies have left Russia, and our ultimate goal—we were asking Visa and Mastercard and then they eventually left—but now we think our top priority is to block the [ Apple Inc. ] App Store and Google Play from Russia completely.

A lot of Russian citizens think that this is OK to send the army into another country. So we wanted to show them that it won’t happen without consequences."

There could be hope for us ... yet... if Putin and China don't exterminate us in the west...

    Works both ways.
I have a mostly defunct email address that has been hacked in the past. It was linked to Paypal.
Since the invasion it's getting a large number of obviously nefarious junk. Not a coincidence.

The world was changed by the Pandemic... Something Putin perhaps didn't calculate in the equation...

Russian media blackout will fail.. Putin can't win that war... Musks Starlink is also a game changer.

How many well placed loads of space junk would it take to put Musk out of space communication launch business?

The world is well on its way back to being gravity bound, and kissing space off. Conventions of "don't blow stuff up in space" was frowned on in peace time. War, usually, throws most kindnesses out the window.

Putin/Russian/Chinese/Iranian cyber attacks could make all GPS auto steer, perhaps all satellites, internet useless.

Not many of us left can make a straight line without Autosteer or follow verbal directions without GPS to find our way home

Not having GPS would get very expensive at these input costs. Think section control on drill and sprayer. Puking in mouth thinking about it.

Dragging tires behind a high clearance boom isn’t possible.
