I finally caught up with the Alberta 2022 Spring Insurance Prices

Amazing how far below actual fall 2022 grain prices these are.

Red Spring Wheat $8.71 [$320/t]
CPS $8.44 [$310/t]
Barley $7.37 [$325/t]
Canola $16.33 [$720/t]
Field Peas Green/Other $11.97 [$440/t]
Field Peas Yellow $11.70 [$430/t]
Fababeans $340/t $0.15/lb

Coverage levels will be out March 15 they said.

A lot of coverage wont pay the fertilizer bill.

I have always thought that the spring prices seemed low to what we could get.

With the prices being set low, won't premiums be less?

Last year they adjusted prices upon payout as prices had gone up a certain percent.

The payout price was about 1.5 times the spring price

If one’s coverage is that low maybe they should have a serious look at the input costs on that type of poor producing land..

. I got 40 plus years in doing just that, plus the tired iron that goes with it.
