    Green Peas ?

Any news on green peas,,, any prospective on price,,, or price movement?

Besides telling me they're a dog, and I effed up growing green instead of yellows !

Just like flax where I say "I'm never growing it again", I keep saying I'm switching to yellow. And just when I'm ready to switch, , , greens suck me back in again!

Dead so far. Maybe $16 but no orders or movement. Usually 2 main demand spikes in a season and you can't miss them. Second one hopefully coming by spring.

Generally there's a move at Crop Production Week, for Old and New crop pricing. Seems eerily quite this year. I didn't think Europe had such a big crop,,, if that's where they'll move, maybe have to wait till shipping starts again out of Thunderbay.

Hmmm, seems a regionally specific answer.

Peas don't ship to Europe in massive quantity and no way a boat will go to Europe in spring. It's all container business.

The lack of demand on pea mkt is due to lack of demand in China. This has made this mkt slow and grindy. Small crop but these prices are higher then many countries will pay. China can substitute corn rice or potatoes starch for their noodle production. In Nov only 95000 mt of peas shipped from Canada. This is unheard of. Should be 500,000 per month.

Container movement and rates affected greens last two years.
Price has seemed static but reasonable for average year. Local buyer seems okay for taking them within decent time.
Off combine here went to US dog food market. Should've taken offer then. Bins full till July now I'm afraid.
Doubt the younger guys here would know what a Thunder Bay is lol. How far east are you Beaverdam? That would hurt too.
Greens my best margin for last 7 years here prior to this one. All to China. But it's changed.

south of Moose Mountains. SE Sask

Ya prices aren't the worst, but comparably durum X2, canola X2, flax X4, even wheat X1.4, barley X2

seems if they don't bump in Jan, then might as well push them out the door.
