As far as the grid I think it can grow at a rate to match EV usage requirements. More and more people will be installing solar and battery in their homes in the coming years. If you charge your EV at home with your own solar or battery power it has zero effect on the grid. Also regarding energy prices, the more energy increases the more attractive solar/battery systems become.
Hydrogen fuel cell cars will use 3x the electricity as a Battery EV. So it will be 3x more expensive to use hydrogen. I don't want to figure out how to make hydrogen in my house either. Fossil fuels are here to stay for a long time, but not forever.
