Format will not likely work but will try to paste.

Seeding intentions of major grains and oilseeds
    Crop 2003 2004 2003 to 2004
    '000s of acres % change
    Total wheat 26,271 25,713 -2.1
    Spring wheat 18,562 18,221 -1.8
    Barley 12,469 11,694 -6.2
    Canola 11,702 12,760 9.0
    Summerfallow 8,915 8,695 -2.5
    Durum wheat 6,135 6,025 -1.8
    Oats 5,614 5,049 -10.1
    Dry field peas 3,220 3,355 4.2
    Corn for grain 3,125 3,244 3.8
    Soybeans 2,597 3,020 16.3
    Flaxseed 1,840 1,925 4.6

No surprises with perhaps the wakeup calls oats and barley. My impression is the rally in grain prices over the past month and current dry conditions will will result in some shift back but this has yet to be seen. Yields will be the next issue and take priority to acreage. A further factor to follow will be the cattle industry saga. Still lots of mouths that will not only eat grain but will also need greenfeed, silage and annual pasture if conditions are dry this summer.
