Dear IMI customer / pulse grower

Well this throws a serious kink into next year...

Solid stem durum is my cereal rotation away from oil/pulse. I cant grow cwrs here unless I want to scratch it up off the ground.

Carryover has been on my mind... I apply edge ahead of mustard yr1, so dont really want to use it in yr3 of rotation or I'll likely lose all efficacy on kochia using it every 2nd year. What's that leave a guy with?

Go high label rate authority and hope like hell it works and if it doesnt then blow it out?

This pretty much guarantees durum is going to be SOL next year!

Just happens that there is a clear field durum variety available next year.

I'm hoping the 1.5-2" weve had here through harvest combined with higher temperatures will maintain soil temp at a level conducive to at least partial breakdown.

Not a lawyer, but I don’t think they have a leg to stand on. Such warning is not, nor ever has been on the Solo label. They have always marketed it as providing rotation flexibility. However, should a problem arise next year, it will be a hell of a struggle to get BASF to even talk about compensation.
It’s truly insulting how at the end of their ‘urgent’ six months too late letter they state ‘We’re here, by your side’ in these unprecedented times’. Like hell-trying to limit their liability is all.
A true partner would identify the risk perhaps but come up with a program to stand behind their product. Develop an incentive program to help farmers avoid the most sensitive crops.
This notice has to be based on data they have possession of. And that begs the question why wasn’t that shared with farmers years ago. Or a label change to alert the ramifications of a dry growing season
Because that would upset their marketing team…

Indeed... If I sprayed based upon written recommendations in 2021 for 2022 follow crops, it certainly seems rather dickish that they can retroactively say, "we no longer support the follow crop's that we supported a mere 3 months ago."

What info have they been sitting on that says Imazamox is an issue in Durum, Canary, or non-clearfield canola? Seems that they've made a conscious decision of marketing Imazethapyr as the culprit behind carryover, and Imazamox as the "safer option."
