Friday Crop Report on a Thursday!

Well, this week was interesting as hail did take some crop last week and it did spit a 1/2 to a 1/4 in our area to slow the harvest process down but looks like a few nice days are here.

Harvest in our area is approaching the halfway point. That is not a good thing when our area is at the halfway point in the first week of September. That means a small crop and it's early.

I will say this Stats Canada should be shut down crushed or just ****ed up bad. They are the most useless department in all of Canada. Again in a drought year they find more crops in inventory and say we have a big wheat crop here or add confusion that the world figures were so ****ed up playing with numbers it must be true and down goes prices.

So here is the crop report

Peas are off and most had half the crop of normal. Most were off early so greens and yellows did grade well.

Barley most is off and will make malt or good feed but the yield is half also of normal.

Oats none off or very little and what's done is light.

Flax none off but the price is nice so even a 15 to 20 makes money.

Lentils that are left are not good as the rain did damage. Most are off but some still have odd fields because guys went after better crops and left for later.

Hrs were into ours and it's an emotional roller coaster. ONe half 60 then you move and 30 then 50 and move and 40 then move and 20 due to hail. So the average is 40 or less than half of normal. Some companies are playing the falling numbers game again but this year who cares feed is worth more than milling. Brandon did bleach and has some sprout issues again this fall. We switched out to Alida and Starbuck and it seems to take our area's weather better. Starbuck will be the wheat of choice for 2022. Where we had moisture it is insane.

Durum is averaging 40 or lower in our area and grade now is lower but grade split is min due to no durum in the country. Maybe stats Canada can find a million or two.

Canola harvest is started with some doing swath and some fields straight. But green is high in some fields did it burn-in or will it change as time goes on. Hail did take 4 quarters of our farm with zero left. So that will drop our average for the year. So far what we harvested and its a min couple of quarters the yield is over half less than normal.

Pastures are greening up in our area with 5 in of rain in August.

Late seeded green feed is also doing better and guys will get an ok cut. Guys are baling Canola for bedding that I have never seen before but they say it works great. Were dropping straw for guys later in the day or night when were harvesting.

So there is the report some small guys are getting close some big guys are at 50%.

Guys are picking bales and others are spraying fields that were harvested and some fields we have made black for 2022. Our highest yielding wheat is on fields of peas that I worked last fall black. Go figure and it rained only 3 in on those fields all growing season. I'm lost for words.

Fertilizer and chem and seed will be insane in 2022 let the ****ing of farmers begin. **** you.

Have a great week there is a chance of rain

I do consider us very lucky to have grown what we did on min rain

But Ohtoole is going to be the new liberal prime minister. Pretty much all the same policies with a few tweaks here and there.

What will you all do with all the extra time you waste complaining about Trudeau if he is gone? LOL

X9 demo comes Monday with a 50 ft header up dates to follow we’re looking at 2 or three for maybe 2022 or 2023

Storms are taking good crops and if it’s canola it’s easy to adjust 100% gone.

Abandonment acres will be high and stats canada doesn’t say that.

                      Fu king joke.

Finally got the wheat off. No protein, but the best yields we have ever had. Too bad the barley and canola yields sucks so bad.

Hitting the canary and some hailed out canola swaths today.

How do you explain the difference between the wheat vs the canola and barley?

If I recall correctly, you had a terrible wet year last year, and dry this year? I think we suffer similar challenges with excess water, but on a dry year, barley and canola just excel, while the wheat suffers and the opposite on really wet years. Or is it still a hang over from the excess water last year?

That would hard on grid road signs and cutting lentils at night.
