Poll came out in the US saying only 58% believe mainstream media.
Way down from 2016 when it was like 90%

Even worse only 34% of Republicans as opposed to 78% of Democrats.

Those numbers will obviously get worse as they print what thier readers want to see.

So when that happens they only have potentially half the potential listeners???

      CBC is a prime example.

I used to wake up every morning at 6am and turn on CBC news. It was the best news. Worth listening to.

When they went to the one hr nightly it started to go to hell. Once internet matured it wasnt worth turning on.
Got stuck listening in the truck yesterday morning and they had absolutely nothing. COVID numbers from the previous day and some SJW forest storey from Big River.
Played same shit every half hour. Can they expect to survive with less than half the audience interested in anything they have to say?

They have far outlasted thier mandate. Time for them to go.

Name one party anywhere in Canada that would benefit farmers ????.... answer is zero other than a handful of deep party leetch’s like Bill Boyd
Every party will have its handful of buddies , every one else is left to fend for themselves.

Right now I see a lot of backroom lobbying to help guys get out of contracts they signed in the spring.

I am really amazed how quickly the checkoff funded organizations are on this file. Wasn't a resolution at the last AGM about this but they are on top of it. They have had a decade to get contracts changed to make a fair penalty for both sides. They are being reactive to the problem. No one is ever proactive in changing things. Worst part is everyone ends up paying for it.

The very guys that didn't want to pay for the CWB phuckups when the CWB got caught short , have a reference point as to what could happen, are probably the same group lobbying in the back rooms about contract shortages and losing grandpas farm because of it. And are expecting everyone to help them out of their shortage ...

Then don't forget the 500 donors to the sask party that are getting 4 billion wealth transfer.

Meanwhile 25000 ranchers and farmers are essentially ignored.

Can sit on a couple years grain and when the price jumps can dump it all in a couple days with a phone call or two.
And get a cheque for the FULL amount in minutes to a week.
Now to get rid of the CBC and get some fair balanced reporting out of the other networks!!!
The western producer is down to about 4 pages of interesting unbiased information and I can NOT believe an editor let such pro Liberal drivel be published during an election in w Western Canadian farm paper!!
Do they truly have no idea that their readers/subscribers are 80% right wing CPC even though it seems they have 90% Commie left wing wacko's that dominate the letters to the editor!!!
The least imaginative out there always brag about how much money they've made since the end of the CWB as if the CWB was the only factor in the price of wheat. If the world price of wheat went up $40/t and the grain companies took $30 while you only got $10, would you still be happy? I guess so because that's kind of what happened. Make that the next to least imaginative; the least just shout, "Wheat would only be $4.50/bu. with the CWB" and have bupkiss to back that up.
As for the quoted post: Nobody was skimming, the whole thing was audited, nobody got rich and there were no piles of leftover money. With the CWB you could book a cash sale for however much on whatever day you wanted( and many did - but less than 10% beat the pool price) or you could sit on uncontracted grain for as long as you wanted.
I ask again; is there any economic EVIDENCE( that a real, actual economist would accept) that farmers are better off BECAUSE we lost the CWB?

Evidence; Eastern Canada never used it and canola and pulses were never added to it.

That tells you everything right there.

The mistake in removing the CWB was not extracting the value out of the organization. It should have been converted into a trade arm and ag marketing resource for farmers maybe merged into FCC or something.

It wasnt a great marketer but they had excellent contacts in the world we sell to and those had value which was lost.

I recall building a very profitable market in California for organic wheat. One day the well established buyer called to say the CWB had called their company to offer them a lower price for the grain than he paid us. The CWB knew he was the buyer because an export licence could only be provided by the CWB. It has to include the grain. The price. The name of the seller and the name of the buyer. The buyer was outraged.... at the Wheat Board. He called them communists.

That was the day I’d had enough. Pars

Jazz, that tells you nothing right there. The east might as well be on another planet. We sold high protein wheat to a handful of buyers halfway around the world while the east sold medium protein, medium hard( same crap as most of the rest of the world grows) wheat about 200 miles down the road. The Ontario board worked but it could not extract a premium from a picky market like the CWB could so it was about a break even proposition.
Peas and lentils were not 'boardified' for several reasons( trade rules, not enough farmers realizing they could make more money and asking for it, etc.) but if they were we would have an advocate body government would actually listen to and a marketer with power. Canada could have become the lentil mafia.
