    Is history repeating

Is Canada going to see a repeat of September 28, 1885?

Do any of you know what happened in Montreal that evening?

For those interested, on that date over 2000 French Canadians armed with everything from stones to guns rioted and destroyed the Montreal Health office. The reason for the protest… the rioters were opposed to the just instituted mandatory small pox vaccination. Some did not believe small pox was a serious disease even though it had already killed 3000 Montrealers. Some thought the vaccinations were dangerous even though scientists said the vaccine was both safe and effective. Some were opposed on religious grounds. Some believed rumours that vaccinators were tying children to their beds to administer the vaccine. Mostly the French Canadians protestors distrusted the English government officials.

The damage was extensive in the city, 2 protestors were killed in the riots and the military had to be called in to restore peace.

And it turned out one of the leaders of the instigators of the riot and spreader of mis information had in fact already gotten his vaccination

Sound familiar to anyone? Is the present anti COVID van more a political protest - just as the 1885 riot was, just a reversal of roles?

Thankfully science and medicine prevailed and small pox was controlled in canada and eventually world wide. I wonder if we can learn from history or if history will repeat?

Maybe they didn’t trust the science because Edward Jenner was a Bible believing Christian?

Huh. I thought “religion” and science were mutually exclusive?

It would be good to transfer the science denying non-believers back into the middle of a small pox outbreak or maybe into an ebola out break so they can tell everyone its not real and it's all a conspiracy.

Some of the real bright ones will take their last breaths in the ICU still claiming covid is not real. Not much you can do for people like that.

We could consider cutting public healthcare for those antivaxers who go unvaccinated without a good reason. Make them pay their own healthcare costs. Since they don't want to be part of a preventative community healthcare program like vaccines, why should the community pay for their healthcare when they get sick? (satire)

These loonies made me realize where Political Science got its name. Wish the rest of the world would realize the connection.

New bins went up yesterday, though I don’t need them all now. I asked the crew boss if there were many cancellations, he said no.
Tried second cut hay, was a waste of fuel, too short.
Seed crop inspector did his field visit Saturday, I will start straight cutting next week after a few hay deliveries.

The same should be done with people who refuse to go back to work . Why should those willing to work , in some cases 2 jobs pay for those getting free money to stay at home on their backsides ?? Same thing

dml do you mean are we going to see a repeat of last centurys marxist authoritarian tyranny play out in the greater world again? Absolutely.

If I can remind you, that lead to more than 100M+ deaths in a few short decades. Way more than all the diseases combined.

I was going to respond by comparing his analogy to his forcing everyone else to pay for his imaginary solar power folly. Same thing, expects someone else to pay for keeping his lights on.

Case, it spat here most of the last two days, amounted to a total of 2/10”. No harvest here. Lentils are about a week away. The hot dry weather forecast (32 Saturday and 35 Sunday) should help. We always used to say if we weren’t combining lentils by August 15, we were in trouble just because it seemed to us that the weather would switch to cool damp nights and indeterminate crops thought it was grow time - not harvest time. 🤨 We’ll have a great birthday weekend of Sheapwheat Shisliki on our homemade Hot Ruski Mangle being designed in the worksop by “master designers”. The order is in for sourkraut perogies with those tender morsels. Thanx for asking Case.

Simple question Dml, 3 out of 10 people who got smallpox died, what is the death rate from Covid-19? And do you really consider it comparable to small pox?
