Freak rain

Had a half inch downpour last night, right out of the blue. Will help late crops fill, but won’t add much to early seeded crops…

WT heck? impressive, sheep. Heard a few drops, but no help. It's humid finally, with CHOKING smoke, particulates SHOULD make rain?

What's this rain thing people keep talking about

Half inch at yard, zero three miles south, same half inch ten miles east, zero three miles north. You wouldn’t believe some of the canola in this area considering the year. Canola did the best of the crops here ironically. It’s variable of course, and with land spread out nowadays, it won’t average through the roof. But I’m struggling to remain calm and not jealous. Some of these guys are going to have one of those years where land is paid for with a crop.. Land values have been around a thousand an acre for several years up until this last spring when it skyrocketed.

Glad for them, but it’s mentally tough to not have a lot of crop anymore! I feel like the tortoise in amongst the hares. Wait, I guess the tortoise did ok longer term. Lol At least the grass will get a chance to regrow. Gotta keep those sheep moving along. I guess per acre my numbers aren’t bad either. But 50 bushel canola seems easy compared to the turtle and his sheep.

If you need grounding Sheep, come down highway 14 Stoon to Biggar, you’ll go home feeling like a million bucks. Don’t go Asquith to Delisle, must have been a good extra rain thru there. Beautiful wheat and lentils. Other than our corn, this crop is done in our area south of Biggar. Rain would finish the corn nice but it’s next year for the wheat, barley and canola. Having to check almost daily for blue algae on sloughs and dugouts. Unattended bodies of water are going to be hard on the wildlife.
