The MacDon FD 100 series FlexD****r headers work unbelievably well in down , lodged and short grain.

They flex with the ground and bounce over rocks amazingly well… and feed great in all conditions! These new reels have much closer spaces between the reel fingers and more bats on the pickup reel so feed everything well. Buddy Wheels mean the cutter bar skims the ground while the header is flexing, no need for lifter fingers! Sure glad we rolled everything at Killam right after seeding as the wheat and Peas will need to be ‘clean shaven’!!!
    How amazing! I see we are Not allowed to write D r a p e r …

    Cheers

We use an air reel for wheat and beans . Would not be without it. Ther can be problem with piling on the ends of the header. Nice to have good pickup reel with fingers that go close to the guards.

It's a nice idea, but rolling every acre here led to dirt plumes a couple thousand feet in the air this spring...

That aside, guys paid for their air reels here in the 80's. They used to take the bat reels right off and cut anything that was basically 20bu/ac or less with straight air. Turned a 10bu swathed crop into a 13 or 14 bu straight cut crop just with the lack of loss.

Yup gonna be interesting, lots of guys dont have straight cut headers here, I do but still like to swath some. There are lots of crops so short I think they would be tough to pick up behind a swather. I dont like rolling but wish I would have like others have said.

We usually roll everything. This year we only rolled half the wheat. Fortunately most of it is over 2ft. A lot of the canola is st cut but few roll it. Could be a good year for the parts guys.

20 years ago we swathed everything very few st cut headers. Crops were not ripening till Sept. Now almost no swathing. Most combining in Aug. You be the judge of why this has happened.
