Haven't seen any canola in this area yet that would build up any inventories. Flea beetles, wind, frost and dry conditions keeping a lot of fields kinda bare. Still guys reseeding . Flea beetles won't give up have to throw bug spray into each tank of liberty.

Lots of questionable fields here too but that is irrelevant. The markets function on speculation and parking money not on the basics of supply and demand that they are supposed to.

The combines will tell the story but we are a long ways from that. A few guys are worrying about having to buy out some canola contracts allready.

Canola around here is poor to half decent with mine being toward the lower end of that range. Flooding, frost, land poisoning from the last three years flooding, flee beetles, some cutworms, and now 2 days of howling wind have all taken its toll. Canola was so slow in getting going that the weeds got ahead of it too. Did not help that the seed was coated fly shit. (one variety 4.0 g/thousand and other 4.3g/thousand) Wanted to buy another bin at a local auction this week but decided I was not going to need it this year. Some of the early seeded wheat looks very good so there are good crops in the area. For those in the dry areas, what flooding does is dissolve sodium further down in the soil profile and move it to the surface impairing formerly productive areas. This is why once you have experienced flooding, drought is way better. I have canola that looks good on the top of a sandy ridge and 50 feet away in a lower area there is 10% stand of midget plants.

If this wind doesnt stop soon those little plants will get blown out of the ground. What does cabbaging look like again? Maybe early Canola is better this year.

There has been a lot of reseeding. Patchy canola emergence flea beetles grasshoppers. A year I am glad we don't grow it. Soy looks great good emergence and good weed control.
