"Biden Uses Canada as a Punching Bag
His ‘Buy American’ plan is worse than Trump’s for suppliers.

President Biden doubled down on Donald Trump’s “Buy American” campaign, signing a Jan. 25 executive order that would not only maintain Mr. Trump’s destructive protectionism, but increase the burdens on international trade.

Mr. Biden’s new order will keep Mr. Trump’s mandate that the federal government buy goods made domestically. But it adds a new, highly disruptive mandate to raise the threshold for foreign components going into those finished goods, along with the establishment of a panel to reduce the many exemptions the Trump administration had made.

Despite its antitrade image, the Trump administration hadn’t even finalized its own “Buy American” rules until two days before leaving office, suggesting a gap between rhetoric and economic reality that the new administration seeks to close.

In the wake of Mr. Biden’s cancellation of the Keystone XL pipeline, this was a second body blow to Canadian workers. This is because components are key to Canada’s exports to the U.S., which make up around 80% of all of Canada’s exports. Considering that Canada’s two largest exports are natural resources and automotive components, together accounting for nearly two-thirds of Canada’s total exports, the new president seems to be going for his neighbor’s jugular.

North American supply chains integrate industries on both sides of the border, especially in the automotive sector. U.S. scrap steel, for instance, is exported to Ontario, where U.S. manufacturers such as Ford and General Motors use it to produce vehicles for export back to the U.S. Mandates on where components are made risk shutting countries out of existing supply chains."

Why wouldn't a Democrat be more protectionist? They are the Union party. Just sit back and enjoy the show.

North Korea has Canada’s back in this.

North Korea calls Biden a ‘rabid dog’ who should be ‘beaten to death with a stick’

It is no big surprise the Biden administration is doing this. Obama was no better. Democrats from northern states as president are the worst for Canada, proven fact. Still trying to get back at upper Canada for burning down the white house.

Whether they use us as a punching bag or not, I suspect that they are going to have big problems very soon, if not already. Biden is surrounded by zealots who are so forceful and they definitely will be pushing their radical agendas. If he gives into the greenies, their oil industry will be decimated - everything Trump did to make America great will be trashed. That’s where we in Western Canada come in.

You are right, Xiden is wrecking US farmers first, us next with the TURDS help of course. Let's see how US farmers react to this Sum Dum f uk! You EVIL earth killing CO2 spewing farmers/ranchers!

"Joe Biden is now waging war on farmers.

Biden killed tens of thousands of jobs his first day in office when he canceled the Keystone XL pipeline and now he’s targeting farmers.

The Trump Administration left $30 billion to help farmers suffering from the trade wars but Biden is going to divert the money to climate change pet projects.

Biden’s plan is to create a “carbon bank” to pay farmers for using “sustainable farming practices” to “capture carbon in soil.”

Could it be that the Democrats recognize that they be a one term only administration, and probably lose their majorities during the mid terms, ( They barely squeaked out a win this time inspite of the obvious advantages, Running against any one but Trump next time is likely all it will take), so they are just going to ram through everything possible as soon as possible while they still have control.

I'm trying to remember how many times over the past few years I suggested that Trump was less protectionist than the alternative. Yet how many on here were campaigning for Biden, under the illusion that he would be better for Canada?

Unlike Kenny who blusters, Texas doesnt f around. Within 2 week of Bidens nomination, they have tabled a referendum to secede the union.

When you have amped the cheating up to such levels you dont know how to top it next time.

Its clear they are trying to shove as many EOs through the system as they can. Joe probably wont even be around for the midterms.

Biden is suspicious of Huawei and considers Chinese tech to be security issue, now conferring with allies. Hmmm, where is this going? We weren’t valuable allies when he cancelled KXL nor when he took aim at our automobile components.

Joe is getting pushed around by trade unions, sjw’s, and eco radicals. He is trying to appease these groups but at a cost to the majority of his voters. Like I said before it will not take much of a republican to beat him next election. Mid term elections will render him a lame duck. In the meantime I fear his appeasement of the radicals will only build resentment and hate from even the moderates. The green shift, new deal bs will topple governments in time because of poor implementation.
