    Next choice for Governor General

Tell me the reasons why a older retired rancher wouldn't be a good choice for GG assuming you could find one that was somewhat tolerant of BS.

      How about Rick Mercer?

The whole political scene is just one big stupid joke and he'd fit the set.

Never thought about him,,, but that could be as good a bet as any.

Would keep the Media onside with Blackie too.

Although, it's not like Mansbridge needs more pension, but he'd do it for the attention and the money.

Ret. Vice-Adm Mark Norman... seems like a nice upstanding guy.

This would seem like an excellent time and excuse to eliminate the entire expensive, futile figurehead position and all the related staff, offices and expenses.

But then, how would they reward their friends with cushy patronage appointments?

Oh brother I hear ya. But as long as we're a Westminster parliament its impossible? Although we could just make it an empty PO Box #.
Okay really, I nominate myself. Id consider the job NP.
