And much like the seed tax issue ...further consultation has been put off...until its redesigned...

I left the December 2018 seed tax meeting looking forward to further consultation meetings....they never happened.....whatever happened to Anthony Parker , Tom Rosser and others in the government on that file

This thing looks like it will follow the same path...or be neatly done by those in favour in a back room.

Maybe these meetings are just to find out who they can easily brainwash by the comments. A scouting of candidates to take the bait.

Many of these same people have already came out and said they will be submitting proposals for the Grain Act review on Farmers behalf. So I hope you all have them well versed in what you really want and who you really want in charge of your future.

What you have for reps is this....industry insiders representing their masters but saying they are farmers ....

And they can get away with it because they put an X beside "farmers" box

I asked Rob Hannam if they did any background checks on those participating in the zoom meetings..

....my comment to him was...""".so you are looking for farmer input but you have industry insiders posing as farmers by just checking the " grain farmer" box"""....

That is why they quit publishing the list of participants ...

There is not a random farmer with no affiliation on the board of the roundtable...but it was developed by farmers????????????????????

        Its such a bullshit smokescreen...

And Synthesis know SFA ...they are like Trudeau and look for an answer that fits ...there is no free thinking or unbiased opinion to take back to the masters...

When you hear "I don't know" or " I have not thought of that" it means they have done zero research into what they are evaluating ...zero.

How many full time farmers involved?
How many Ducks Unlimited employees involved?

          Hmmmm.....

After careful consideration...the voluntary code of practice isn't for me ...I am doing most of the "requirements" already and I have been dragged through the implications resulting from those that don't follow what they are proposing years ago...so what is the point...and it will happen again..

People believe if they show the certified seed tag to someone it will make a difference if a market is shut down by traits...phucking crazy...

Even though your neighbour said he didn't preharvest his durum in the middle off the night and it all turned for a perfect harvest....he can say he didn't ruin the Italian durum market or cause testing protocols...while he is right behind you in the lineup at the elevator

              A farmer wrote this

              • REQUIREMENTS
              1. For those crops that are subject to variety registration, whether the seed is certified, common or farm-saved:
              • Only use varieties that have been approved for use in Canada through the Variety Registration system3; • Do not use varieties which have been de-registered or registrations have been cancelled.

â–ª Rationale supporting the requirement: The purpose of variety registration is to ensure that health and safety requirements are met, and that information related to the identity of the variety is available to regulators. In Canada, the Seeds Act requires, for most agricultural field crops, that producers only use varieties that have been registered and labelled to prescribed standards.

No one at the elevator is trained to see varietal differences....they are lucky to know the difference between wheat and durum some days

Looking at the list of industry people involved there are 4 DU people out of the 40 .....DU are not farmers...

And when questioned why they were considered a NGO....they had no answer when told DU funding comes from government...

Experience has shown that farmers will whine and complain, do nothing about it, and accept it anyway.

                  This won't be any different.

While true but it is hard to do something when they stack the deck against you...

Farmers just getting more info on this since November and they have been working on it for years .... the consultation process is 3 weeks with predetermined outlines...without a good overview of regional differences...

They are always defaulting to provincial laws ...this is a poorly thought out process...

Assuming you asked the question in sincerity, I will tell you what this farmer has done about it:

An issue arose here a few years ago about mapping and designations being placed on natural features on our farmland/private property.

With the help of several others, we succeeded in getting a group of farmers from all across the county to literally pack the County council chambers for a presentation outlining the evident harm that would result from the prescribed mapping.

It was a comprehensive package backed up with facts from Stats Can, GFO, County records, all presented in print, verbally, and visually supported by a PPP.

There were about 3 months of prep went into it and approximately 200 hours of my time alone when I wasn't doing winter farm work. Others contributed as well.

All for a 10 minute slot in which to present it.

The presentation went very smoothly and resulted in praise and a fairly significant discussion from council members.

They had no choice but to acknowledge that what we presented was factual - the sources were indisputable.

On one particular point, the warden directly stood me up and refuted what I had just said as "Not being in there" after I presented a fact directly quoted from the Planning department's manual!, and available to all.

The stupid prick didn't even know what was in the document the Planning department was asking him to approve!

The beauty of it was that he then deferred to the senior planner to allow her to support his rebuttal statement. Nothing better than to see your enemy publicly shoot himself -

Much to his chagrin, she had to acknowledge that what I had said was indeed correct - it WAS in the manual in print, while I stood there with the manual open, pointing to the page which contained that fact.

So ya, lots of acclaim for a job well done and lots of fairly warm discussion - but no supporting action.

Well, other than the intellectually deprived, idiot Warden going on the radio saying that we had presented a bunch of misinformation. And that we were a "special interest group".

Later, at that round table meeting where I exposed the lying, inept facilitator/planner, that same warden and I happened to be at the same table at one point. Nice opportunity, it was!

                      And I didn't waste it.

At the beginning of the session, the planner told us to say our name and who we were with.

In turn, i gave my name and said that I'm with a special interest group.

oh, really, one innocent old lady gushed, what special interest group are you with?

I said I don't know the name of it, but after the meeting I intend to find out from the warden - sitting next to me - who recently referred to us as such on the radio.

Not satisfied, she persisted in trying to find out who the special interest group was, asking the same question again.

And I was delighted to present the same answer, since nothing had changed in the past 60 seconds since her first inquiry - pointing him out this time as I replied.

His face was completely frozen - likely wishing the old lady would either just shut up or drop dead in her chair.

So after the meeting, the warden did come over from his spot at a different when I summoned him with a hand wave and we had a discussion about his on-air comments.

He said, "The Ontario Landowner's is a special interest group."

I asked if they were present as an recognized entity at any of the planning meetings, or elsewhere.

He had to admit that they were not, at which I asked why, then, did you suggest that they were?

                      No reply.

I then asked him if he ever thought about it that the Planning department could be considered to be a special interest group. A group that may have their own agenda and personal interests at heart?

He had no reply, just an empty look. Didn't know what to say to this new thought.

I have to at least give him credit for actually sitting down with me.

But tweety, you are right it will make no difference even if farmers get out and represent their interest in the process

Because - cue George Carlin once again, "IT'S A BIG CLUB, AND YOU AIN'T IN IT"

Do you think the 60 or so farmers that packed the county council chambers had nothing better to do that snowy, winter day? Or that maybe they were actually there because they cared and understood what was coming with this trojan horse the planners were bringing in?

The planners knew, afterwards, that they had been nudged off their throne ever so slightly by this ignorant farmer from the concessions, so they never really brought their draft to a full vote of acceptance and council approval.

The connivers merely asked if council at a later meeting - when no farmers were aware or present - if council would approve their plan in principle.

Which the daft pricks did, although not unanimously.

So there you go tweety, that's what this farmer and a number of others did to repel that actual government, special interest group who run our lives and our farms. Hundreds of collective hours of coordinated efforts by heavily involved farmers. And we got railroaded anyway, by a predetermined outcome to a corrupt process.

                      Thanks for reading.

Oh, BTW, what have you done lately?

Or maybe you don't want us to know - are you working for the other side?
