I farm with my son so it is necessary to see him daily. So Blaithin explain to me how not seeing my family will change the infection rate?

Oh nobody can have indoor gatherings for 3 weeks, except those that work with family. Or those that live outside the high risk zones. Or have family in the same yard. Or only live 6 miles apart. Or or or or or....

People need it spelled out in the plainest English and it has to be fairly uniform across the entire province. Pretty much guaranteed that’s why they didn’t say mandatory masks. The rural area would be up in arms and if we didn’t do it then why would the urban population?

You can have outdoor gatherings of less than 10 people. Build a fort with the grandkids. Have a bonfire. Skate on the dugout.

Unless you can think of a way that a provincial gov can exempt you from their rules and why you deserve to be exempt. You’re up by Delburne I believe? Which is where one of the hockey infection hotspots from last week was at that’s trickled down to affect where I work. If you think it’s not in the area you’re wrong.

I don't personally like Kenney,havent since he was an MP. But I thought he did well with his speech today trying to level with people and tell them plain and simple like it is. I would have went further, lots will complain it's too much. Tough job to keep everyone happy while at the same time keeping the economy going and keeping people's stupidity from killing them.

Actually well aware of the positive covid tests on the hockey team, I know many of the players personally. Also very cognizant of the risks of infection. I have been careful to limit my social contacts and like you are somewhat of a hermit. I see my kids on an almost daily basis and that is about it for social contacts. Anytime I have to go anywhere I carefully clean up and change out clothing when I get home. As far as mandatory masks, I believe already has been imposed in Calgary and Edmonton, I don’t see it bending the curve. Personally have no problem wearing one. I think for masks to be effective a comprehensive protocol on handling and either cleaning them or replacing them every so many hours would be necessary. So lecture if you wish but your going after the wrong person.

I’m not lecturing anyone. I just don’t see the restrictions being an issue. Especially for the timespan they’re currently for. You asked what Kenney was trying to accomplish regarding infection rates that you have little to no impact on, I simply countered wondering how would he exempt you (and others) from the rule.

I can understand trying to keep businesses afloat by keeping them open to degrees but see absolutely no reason families and friends can’t abstain from seeing one another for a few weeks. In your situation your son would be like a coworker and it’s never been said we aren’t allowed to see anyone or work with anyone. Just no “indoor gatherings”. I don’t even know how many people constitute a gathering. Don’t have anybody over at all? There was no clarification for that.

Or what about the coffee rule? You can only go to the bar or a restaurant or coffee shop with people from the same household. How do they prove that? Hell, I’m with co workers more than I am with people at home. Are serving staff going to ask for verification that we live with the people we’re with?

Most of its still going to come down to people using their own good will and intelligence. Which does make me happy to live in a less populated area.

In the beginning when our numbers were low I smugly said our low sparse population was our saving grace.

I guess maybe we're not as sparse as I thought. Maybe our per capita population is more urban and suburban that I thought.

At times now I feel like I live uncomfortably close to Regina. Gotta go into that hell hole soon again. Don't like it at the best of times.

Ironically the positive tests are only a percentage of the people being tested! This could be alot bigger than meets the eye....and we don't even know it.

It will run it's course, in spite of our efforts to "contain" it. See what the vaccine brings. It's getting close to a year now since Wuhan unveiled it. What's happening there? Italy?

All I know is I'm sick of it.

These little communities can be at very high risk. My little community went from 1 case to 92 in a little over a week. You think about it, most everyone in a small community travels through the same stores. Way more chance of catching in a small community that has an out break than a big city like Calgary or Edmonton with its massive number of stores. I personally know 8 people under 50 that have caught covid in the last week. 2 of them are having a real hard time breathing.

It is serious. Everyone do your part. If you are in Alberta, yes it means you can't see your family for a few weeks. The idea is to get is under control so we can be together for the Xmas season.

It is pretty well a given that there is a far higher infection rate than we realize.

From what we have seen of community spread in this part of the country, it's well known that there are many who get sick, almost always with very mild symptoms, and do not get tested and/or reported as positives.

So what is the true rate of infection in the general population? And if it's far higher than publicly released records show, what is the actual threat from the WuFlu?

And it's also a fact that there are those who do not follow standard protocols for ANY kind of communicable disease, some knowing that they have a "cold", and some unknowingly.

So, spread continues, as it does with any other communicable disease.

So the question is this: should the higher count be seen as bad news, or as a "mis-perceived" positive since it would indicate that the mortal threat is much lower than widely propagated?

With a history of respiratory challenges, it could well be fatal for me if I get it.

Therefore, I do what I feel necessary to not get it.

However, I do not feel that the world is obligated to stop just for my own benefit.

Is there a more selfish attitude than to expect it should?
