Hunted while growing up with open sights, lots of hunters on our land, but I have no interest in hunting now. All my children and their significant others are avid, game bird and big game hunters.

Son in law was drawn for Elk in the Turtle Mountains for bow season this year. He target practiced for weeks with the bow prior to the hunt. Upon setting out he packed up his tent and food supply and drove half way across Manitoba to have a chance at an Elk after missing the draw prior years

Son in law walked to a secluded spot a mile from his tent (camp) which was inaccessible even by quad. Was able to call a five point bull Elk within 50 yards and dropped it with an arrow in the morning . After gutting and skinning the Elk, he made five (2) mile round trips (10 miles total) carrying out appox. 300 pounds of Elk meat on his shoulders. This took him the entire day to get the meat to his camp and then get it into the coolers. Drove home the next morning and we all helped process the Elk meat together that afternoon.

This unequivocally is an example of an individual who is a true hunter and obviously loves the sport in my books (I myself would never dream of doing this). Sorry if I offend those with all the latest hunting equipment, quads, tree stands and tractors, I just don't see it as that much of a sport with that type of assistance.

Yea pretty much a lot of “road hunters” here
When I used to hunt I really enjoyed the solitary walks through the bush
Shot a moose couple years ago
Just not there for me anymore

Never shot a moose myself, but my father shot a couple within miles of the farm. Unfortunately the moose in our area are totally gone in the past 30 years, because of the large population of white tails and deer worm.

Real sad not seeing moose in our area.

Dont be sad ....if you ever get close to seeing one in your headlights you will be happy they are not around...

Same go for deer....they need an open season on mule deer around here....although with some more snow banks the numbers will drop...

I have a lot of respect for those that hunt with a bow.
