    Russian grain quota

    From feb 15 to june 30 21.

15 mmt of wheat barley corn meslin rye.

    Some suggesting wheat only.

    So whats it mean experts?

Shoring up supplies if covid gets worse?

So do exporters out of russia ramp up exports go hell for leather till feb 15?

Plentiful supplies via russian wheat till then may cap prices to a degree?

Crystal ball will prices rise once quotas hit, but a futures market is just that they will have it factored in soon.

Pondering come say march 30 russia decides we don’t need quotas no more will prices crash?

As always looking for guidance and advice and non political or medical responses

The ruble is about as low as it's ever been since it started trading. This is partly the reason for export restrictions. A desire to keep bread prices under control.

Latest WASDE gives no indication of a major wheat shortage in Russia. May be a regional thing.
There is likely a desire to carry more stocks because of COVID

Another major factor in trade right now that has been ignored is US interest rates are low. Grain importers can borrow to eat.
