Count me out I quit two years ago. Should have quit 5 years earlier but had a good hired man. Good luck you're going to need it in this political environment.

Here we will need reasonable snow melt, but more importantly timely rains in season. The soil moisture bank account here is empty.

Rotational choices here rather limited. A $300+ break even dictates along with general weather patterns here.
              Storage and cash flow considerations.
Only real change would be less peas as disease has become problematic. Combine hours in August the trade off.
Forward prices available today are looking favorable wheat canola. Feed barley if you can lock it in and store it in fall.
Specialty stuff like malt and specific use legumes seem to be off the list.
Hedging ability at $7.40 wheat and $11.25 canola a great risk off set.
              Just my 2 cents.

                For cereal acres:
                Feed barley up
                Malt barley down
                HRS wheat down

I think reds might be in the dumpster by spring. Australia has a mountain of a crop that is going to keep us out of the market for a couple months.

                  Better pencil in .24 lentils.

                    25% Large green lentils
                    25% Canary
                    25% maple peas
                    25% durum

Going to stick to this rotation for a few years. LEPs comments are correct re reds. We need new issues in India to occur with their red crop or Australia and our current CDN inventories are likely to weigh on the market.
