Friday Crop Report on a Thursday!

Harvest is getting to the Finish line we will have it completed today at about 2 in the Afternoon. One quarter left of Canola on Pig Shit. So I'll Say its 98% Complete.

    So here we go.

HRS is all but done the Later wheat that caught a timely shower did extremely well. Not sure why we need a seed tax when today's wheat can hit big yields with proper nutrients, Drills, Fungicide, sprays and good old mother nature.

    Fun with math

    90 + 70 + 40 = 53 AV

Sounds good but if your shooting with inputs for the first number and you get the last number is it a bumper or is it a failure in 2020. I call it an average crop.

We farm in 2020, not 1981 so yes times have changed let's call a spade a spade. Best Crop ever is a joke.

Peas are a crop that did well in our area this year. In early lots of moisture and timely rains then dry as hell. Pre priced and almost had to beg the buyers to give a price on peas to lock-in. The crop comes off and no penalty to grain company needed as did grow what I presold. Oh oh oh the dreaded harvest pressure they drop the price or no bids to $6.00. Either bag or bin or dump, most dump the last overage. Ah like a miracle on the Hudson India needs peas and price now $8.00. Halleluiah. Grain companies make $2.00 for playing market manipulation 1.01. Pulse Growers association with its non Refundable checkoff. SILENCE. MR STUPID FARMER GROW MORE NEXT YEAR LOOK AT THE PRICE. Fall 2021 price cant get a $7. Its a Joke.

Barley the game that is even a bigger joke than Peas. The feed is now higher or just about equal to the price of Malt. Ah, what a world Great supply Malt for everyone. Oh, cattle feed pays better. Yep market transparency.

Oats is the crop that is still out in our area and last fields will be getting harvested hopefully before the snowstorm Monday.

Flax is all harvested yields below last few.

Canary seed quite a bit in our area and results lower than last year but guys are happy with results. It will make money.

Canola is all over the mark. Same fun with math.

    65 + 45 + 25 = 45

While you shoot for the first is 45 really a great yield since back in 1981 with Westar we could achieve that same yield and the seed didn't cost 700 a bag. Oh, you could also buy seed treatment and treat seed your self in the 70s.

So, after all, is said and done its great to be approaching the finish line. 45 days of harvest from start to finish. Green combines do work really good with min problems. Ok, the only problem one of them is socially awkward and won't talk to 1 and 3 some days. Changed the br4ains and now all three talk.

Happy Thanksgiving from my farm to yours. First time in 20 years we will be able to join the family and actually have a quiet comfortable day with family. Oh, wait, DR TAMM says go virtual. Well NO.

Happy Thanks GIVING. I feel blessed to do what I love. FARMING FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

OK Sheldon Cooper ...Fun with Math guy....at what point does that below average crop start to make money with prices...since they have been rising a bit....

Guys who took the 9.50 or 10 bucks because some guy named Townsend said it was a bumper crop ....where do they have to be to even money from where they thought they should be...

    60 x 10 = 600 / 45 ( actual yield ) = 13.30 On your canola crop....it might get there but that one statement from Townsend cost producers a tonne of money...

Yea I will have to agree with you his comments ****ed up the market. BIG BIG BIG then you have two to three weeks of 28 or higher and wind but the crop that's 700 a bag seed can make it. Yea bullshit it can.

Also, why are most market GURUS talking about drought in RUSSIA AND Ukraine?

DAH maybe look out your window or drive out in rural sask drink a few beers and piss on the ground then if you still can count. Count how long till your puddle of piss soaks into the dry Western Canadian Ground.

WTF is up with No Drought Talk.

Or is it ROSE Coloured glasses? All is good.

Building a road beside us and guess what the crew says all summer they build roads and all summer the same dry dry ground.

Oh but it's just a small area.

SHSHSHSHSHSS Its not dry is what the Market wants us to believe.

WELL, THE ****ING GAS TANK IS EMPTY.

So far this fall we have 1 inch. But is that going to replenish the ground?

Simple answer No and ****ing snow is useless it runs all away and soaks in very little.

IMHO the worst thing that could happen during this drought is a big rain just before freeze up and then snow...for sure it will run off...It might as well stay dry prior to the snow so it can soak in during the spring melt.

There could be plenty of time prior to freeze up to get a soaking rain but I need a few days to finish up....so we can just put the rain talk on hold...OK ...good then!

I'm just saying the Saskatchewan Gas tank is on Empty and rain is needed all we get is spit.

But they will be pushing Canola this winter because of well Ukraine didn't seed very much winter canola because its ****ing so dry.

Dah how much winter wheat went into Canada Because its ****ing dry.

But Ukraine makes the Ag News.

For sure it is dry ..but our provincial ag minister is in election mode...he aint doing shit but driving around...being his stupid self...as is Bibeau....she is always stupid...

At this point and have never lost next years crop in October...but this is dryer than 1988...and has been by the rainfall for the last couple years...

The fact that we are growing the crops we are on dryland highlight the vast improvements in farming in the last 40 years....and everyone has taken a piece of those efficiencies...

Listening to the railway guy talk about higher capacity cars yesterday on the radio....will farmers see any reprieve in freight rates due to the efficiency.....nope...or better movement....nope...

Ah the life of a farmer.

Saskatchewan best place to be in the summer.

Florida Hawaii or Caribbean best place in the winter. Covid 19 zero fun.
