Somebody better figure out if this lack of demand is here to stay or what. If it is then we need some new direction in thinking sitting here waiting for a miracle isn’t the answer.
It appears the Russia and the saudis have secured much of the worlds demand. The USA gave that to them.
Maybe it was a round about way to screw us
What ever your opinion on this we need to know what the future holds. And start looking at developing other industries. Sell out oil cheap domestically so we can be better then competitive in new industries. But you’d have to have a plan and not be owned by the unions or the oil companies.

Leaving politics out, the whole oil industry is still beyond confusing. When oil hit $150 back in 2008 there wasn’t a day that went by where Hubberts Peak was referenced and how our oil soaked economy was running out of oil and the price could go unthinkably high. Furthermore the Saudis has ruined their fields by water injection, creating a terrible shortage. 12 years later oil is a quarter of the price and their appears to be supply to last a million years. Analysis is futile. I’ll

Very well could thats not what interests me. An electric car is now the number 1 selling car in California and Tesla the world's most valuable auto maker. VW has suspended all R and D in regards to their ICE motors. Thats it no new gasoline motors.

When they started putting on triple and quad turbochargers, running 0w20 synthetic oil, and physically shutting them off at stop lights, it made me think their R&D was tapped out.

But all of that is irrelevant to demand for fossil fuels, since the electrical grid is still ( and for the forseeable future) powered primarily by fossil fuels. All it will accomplish is to change some demand from oil to nat gas and coal. And those passenger vehicles only consume 1/4 of the worlds oil, and oil only amounts to less than 40% of world fossil fuels by energy content.

So 10% of fossil fuel demand has the potential to be affected by switching to 100% EV's which will still be primarily fossil fuel powered at the other end of the cord.

Electric grid in the suburbs can't handle the demand either.
