    Useless info maybe factual Hogs

    Disclaimer could be bs.

Agro said today if all Australia’s hog population was sent to China and processed it would consumed in 50 minutes. Wow.

Hog operations are expanding and new one happening all the time, on the basis wee safe fom swine flu.

Not 100% sure about that but we’re free from most nasty diseases.

    Guess hogs expanding in Canada?

Good for farmers another huge domestic outlet maybe we are not going to be super reliant on exports as time goes on.

An seems there never gonna get on top of swine flu in S.E. Asia or even further afield

Likely a matter of a few days would take care of it.

Canada hog numbers are slow to increase.

Imports and production of other meats and seafood are increasing for China but the bottom line is that in the near term they will be eating less meat. There is not enough meat and seafood available to replace the loss of hog production

Investments in the hog industry have gotten negative returns too often in the last 20 years so there will not be much expansion here. The other problem is that reliance on China as a market has also not proven to be sound business as the Chinese have demonstrated over and over that they can't be trusted. Where is China going to get the $USD needed to buy pork when there economy is in recession? The magnitude of ASF has gotta be negative for economic growth over there. This is why we have not seen a massive movement in the price paid to producers here,

ASF is rapidly spreading in the wild in Europe. All its going to take is 1 guy not changing his boots and it'll spread like wild fire. A vaccine has been developed in the US but China won't allow it at present due to it being "live" is my understanding. Also noteworthy is the latest grain consumption numbers out of China shows meal consumption is making a comeback and corn industrial use it going through the roof. No explanation on it but their corn stocks are falling rapidly yet there's no ramp up to match in protein. They might be switching to ethanol

The biggest impact of ASF is that hundreds of millions of people around the world are moving back to the state of food insecurity. This is a huge tragedy. These people simply can't afford to buy from replacement sources.
