Yet,,, yet,,, you won't agree Alberta should retain more of it's own revenues, to address those problem wells, and maybe hospitals and schools to boot???

You seem fine with allowing revenues generated on the prairies sent to subsidize Quebec hospitals, schools and daycares,,, dude, your effing daft!

Cleaning up Alberta’s oilpatch could cost $260 billion, internal documents warn

The liabilities include costs that companies must assume to shut down aging and inactive oil and gas exploration wells, facilities and pipelines once they are no longer needed. Another significant part of the liability is the clean-up of toxic tailings ponds from oilsands extraction mines near Fort McMurrray. The ponds have sprawled to cover an area the size of Kelowna.

The tailing ponds are used by companies to dump the waste from the mining of bitumen. The process normally requires hot water to separate bitumen from the oily deposits of sand beneath the boreal forest in Alberta, leaving behind a yogurt-like sludge.

Very little in the heritage savings account. A monstrous environmental liability. A particular commodity on a world scale that is one of the most expensive and carbon intensive to extract. Some of the lowest royalty revenues on the planet. A boom and bust economy that lurches from boom to bust based on Private sector profit over long term economic stability. A worldwide push to reduce carbon emissions by reducing fossil fuel use that will eventually cause demand to wane. What could possibly go wrong?

Hmmmm, on that map Conservative Manitoba gets $1,900/person equalization while PQ Quebec only gets $1,600.

Who is cleaning up Muskrat Falls or the old asbestos towns? Who will clean up all the tailings ponds from rare earth and lithium mines.

Anyway AB wont be getting anything because we have a new dead beat province to support. NB getting a 10% increase in funding, off ABs back again.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/new-brunswick/new-brunswick-poorest-province-equalization-payments-1.5400170 'Tough to take': New Brunswick grabs unwanted title as Canada's poorest province

Resource hypocrite sure like the revenue while the bash the industry. They are the worst elements of our society. A Marxist cult has taken root.

When the recession hits and it hits BC and ON next especially their RE markets, Canada will crack.

Yes who will clean up all the environmental problems? That is great question.

Lets not ignore any of them whether it is the abandoned mines, oil wells, tailings ponds etc.

Its time to pay as we go for all the environmental costs incurred instead of pushing the "environmental deficit and liabilities" onto our grandchildren.

Conservatives are supposed to be conserving. But the current Conservatives are rip and ship as fast as possible and let somebody else pay for the hidden costs!

Wow! All those prairie Manitoba residents are nothing but freeloading good for nothing lazy so and sos. LOL

Manitobans are diluting the wealth and prosperous hardworking image of us westerners! Why don't they go out and get a job!

Brian Pallister must be a dud if they have to live off equalization! His share must have went to his second home in Costa Rica! And they get more than Quebec per capita!

God gave them plenty of hydro instead of massive oil reserves. Not everybody can win the geology lottery!

I doubt they are planning on joining Wexit!

Plans are being made right now to bring MB in our circle of influence and kill the eastern elites influence. AB and Sk will forge a commodity corridor agreement to bring MB into the first world.

Meanwhile, the next province to get equalization will be NFLD when their socialize their outrageous green boondoggle hydro project debt.

Ontario is neutral now, they will be next once their highest sub sovereign debt starts to eat away at them, then BC once the Chinese money dries up. And you will have your new country carved out at that time.

If I was a betting man I wiould be buying land in southern AB because once this baby cracks up, millions will move in to the west. Just like they are doing in the US Midwest in states bordering the rockies.

Hydro is phucked because of Stalingers miss management by taking all the profits and giving it to the hard working native bands which in turn piss the money away playing bingo. Then it’s our fault they get flooded out or start some fires to have a holiday in the city on our dime. We are a welfare state because it’s to hard to say no to free loaders.

Canada can forget about the US as a destination for hydro. Their natural gas is just about free and no hydro project can compete with that. But Sask and Ab will take some of excess that but its going to cost (actually benefit) you a clear path to Churchill.

MB need to convert to commodity transport logistics for the west. Energy and commodity corridor, port activities, ice breaking, shipping and take that business from BC.
