Great start for G3 and now they expand with hopes of turning a profit down the road. Wonder which Winnipeg family will eventually own G3. More than likely all three will split the left overs.
Was told yesterday they won't buy existing locations....they only build new....

Why Swift Current...there is Richardson , Paterson, Viterra, and a couple of others west ....

They only thing they can take for market share is a turn from the others....

Can't imagine farmers 49.9% share being worth much in a couple more years when Saudi's have option to buy them out, the way they have been spending unless there was a lot more money there then what was said there was when they destroyed the books.

Farmer's equity stake will be diluted down to next to nothing by the time they "get settled".

Not against competition or more elevators but at what point do we get over built and elev Co's have to charge more to keep doors open and shareholders satisfied. Don't think they will pass on savings and competition to producers at the expense of shareholders.

The government if they are so concerned with climate change ....why can't elevators be positioned to reduce trucking and make the railways actually help the effort...

All the logistics and efficiency gains have went to shareholders while the same people talk about the environment. ...

You guys realize the railways created the trucking industry by railway consolidation....then wonder why we have to rebuild highways and try to fix the environment. ...
IF any levels of Government had brains to see the outcome, MOST wooden elevators would be still used. The road costs, trucking costs, $$millions spent on CONCRETE would all have been unnecessary, still be in our equity.
Towns had people working in every elevator, tax base, all went to SHIT just for sake of CHANGE and SFA improvements in efficiency because RAIL is the bottleneck..

Yes. Along with hundreds of thousands of dollars in more bins in our yards and a year round job hauling it in.
13 car spots less bottleneck than 134??
< 24hr turnaround here and back westbound.
Sorry, gotta call bs on entire post.

Fact is they only care about shareholders or how many more millions they put in owners pocket. Railways hold all small towns and business’ ransom. If u don’t do it exactly like they want they don’t have to service u. No different than producer car spots. Most are not looked after because it’s money they could put in the bosses pocket. Mean while we continually lose options and they don’t care. Our governments do nothing to legislate better service because it is not seen as overly important while more and more small towns die because of the railways take it or leave it attitude. Competition is the only thing that forces this to change.

I would hesitate to guess the family's Friday afternoon tea party is getting a little more somber as international competition within Canada is heating up. Saudis are loaded with cash, looking to diverify their econonomy and food supplies.

My guess is they have been welcomed with open arms. ....why else would you build in a saturated market unless they allowed you to....the families will be able to drop some dead weight....customers and staff...win win...

If they were competitive they would build to gain market share for farmers not to have to drive an extra hour...
