And I m glad for you it’s better but I m saying for many of us not with that nearness to multiple terminals it’s been a hardship. There are constant threads on here stating the grading problems the fact they are blending and we re not getting the benefit etc etc is all costing us money. And you don’t dare say anything to the terminal as they will say fk off and not buy anything else from you and they know they have you by the balls.

We don’t grow big yeilds but usually good quality and we were not getting paid for the quality in the old system . I see what u r saying but we felt we were subsidizing the poor quality to much .

If you are closer to a port along with three terminals life would be good...but ask yourself this...

Could a stranger with a 25 percent downpayment make a living on your farm....and how long would an off the street with no farm background have to work for the 25 percent down payment...

Renewal ability for the primary producer will dictate if it can survive....

I am not arguing but these are questions I ask myself when people say its better....and they are more important for primary producers as a whole or the inevitable consolidation will come again...

It will look much different....the further from a terminal will be turned back to grass and ranches....


There is a bold statement of the future....better or worse.....not sure...

Guess you aren't old enough to remember restricted quota deliveries. Or getting 70% of US prices converted to canuck bucks. Or watching pulses and oilseeds selling year round while wheat sits in the bin. Guess maybe you didn't hear about the criminal CWB blending programs. Or the CWB ignoring markets that wanted lower quality non feed grains.

You don't know whats best for your farm because you have no idea how much was already lost. Literally hundreds of billions lost through that entity.

We are 17 km to zero 2 km from terminal. Rest are 50 and 60 km and then 80 so yea we have lots of choice crush two at 110 km away.

Wheat at 74 makes you money.

Till we get a ducking seed tax.

Thanks ...the problem with the industry is that it won't attract the youth it needs over time other than to be a worker on a large farm....there isn't enough incentive to farm unless you have a farm background to begin with.....and even if you look at the RBA catalog there are generation farms packing it in....

I read you backwards. I thought you said the CWB provided the best returns your farm has ever seen.

Anyway, the removing the CWB as a central buying desk was best move ever, but throwing the entire thing out was the worst move ever. It couldnt exist as a dual market once people tasted the open market but it could have been transformed into a marketing and trade arm of the govt and private industry and farm groups to make sure trade flows and new markets open.

Be handy to have that organization now that we have elected a imbecile.
