    New Machinery

Priced out a new air drill this week ..... after hearing the price told sales manager to direct me to the parts manager. It’s gotten way out of line ..... absolutely ludricous.
It will never end until the manufacturers have zero or few orders to final realize we can’t do it.
Now we have to add Trudeau to the latest increase in price. We are doomed!!

When has the price of new machinery ever gone down?

Inflation has kept some aged pieces of machinery from actually depreciating further.

I know a guy who wants $70K for a 1996 JD MFWD 7400 with loader, 3 ph and almost 4200 hrs. Bet that tractor sold for that new(??????)!

Good Degelman heavy harrows sell for almost what they sold for new. Degelman land rollers....same.

I'm sure there's tons of examples.

Combines, maybe not so much. Maybe not air drills either, especially oddly configured ones.

Yup, in some cases the cost of new has helped good used maintain it's value.

Drills lose resale value as quick as any piece of machinery, likely one of the worst due to different widths, fertilizer types and other options.

You sometimes see a 3 year old unit go for 1/3 the new price!

Yes, i agree in some circumstances “some” equipment still for some reason holds its value.
But that value isn’t a true value. When someone wants something they will pay whatever it takes.
Air drills seem to be out of the norm.
I just want some explanation as to why it costs $4214 ft? This price is the cash price with full blockage. Of course they will be able to justify every ft.
Mine is worthless to them, at $555.55 ft, I will be keeping it until it literally falls apart.
I heard a comment from some recently where he said “you have to keep up with technology”, oh man did I LOL.

I noticed this first in the fall of 2016. It was late into harvest and we looked at trading 2 year old combines for 1 year old combines. They wanted over 100k difference. New machinery has made no sense to me since then.

This all is attributed to a few things. Firstly, printing of money. No good cause the companies expect higher returns because they think there’s more money around. Secondly the shareholders gotta be paid. Companies gotta look good for more reinvestment. Lastly they are all greedy bastards that will keep sucking the farmers dry until we ALL say FU. It won’t end until there is a major correction and that usually means someone’s going broke. Then the house of cards falls. If any company needs a kick in the nuts it’s Deere. Those phuckers are so greedy it makes me sick. They are the Walmart of Farm equipment. Selling high priced Chinese junk. Iron is overpriced, parts are overpriced and service consists of we can’t fix it just buy a new piece. Not saying they are the only ones but definitely the worst. They have gotten so used to the lease and flip mentality that they have forgotten about the farmers that are the base of their business. I hope they choke.

Just read AgDealer, Farm Life or search used. Hundreds of SUCKERS trading 1-3 year machinery. Till whoever is borrowing their AZZES off stops, demand tells them to crank out more at higher prices. Hopeless I am afraid.
