Nobody is in love with the carbon tax. It is just a tool to reduce carbon emissions.

BC has had one for years and there emissions have not increased compared to their economic and population growth. They have a relatively strong economy as well.

Preston Manning supports carbon taxes over regulations because it allows individuals to decide how to reduce emissions. It's market driven.

Farmers have exemptions from carbon taxes on fuel. There is a case to exempt natural gas and propane as well.

APAS estimated the carbon tax will cost farmers around $2.00 -$4.00 per acre. If that is going to put your farm out of business you are already in trouble from other causes.

Most input costs fluctuate in price from year to year way more than $2.00 -$4.00 per acre.

The costs can't keep being downloaded to primary producers....you cant say we are going to measure your emmissions and charge accordinly but not credit you for your contribution to reducing emissions. ...

Lower emmission equipment gets nothing for farmers but a higher price tag while NCC and DU have 100 million of government money to play with as environmentalists (cough then puke)....
