Everything’s at a standstill here. Photos are more or less just what fell over night. Most snow is melting during the day.

Why? Isn't lentil harvest 90% or more complete?

It started melting as it first fell around here. Now seeing about 6 inches accumulating. Only half done and dried the last few days of grain combined.

          What a country.

There’s a couple counties by Edmonton that have declared states of emergency because of the weather not allowing harvest, so yes, some in the government are acknowledging it.

Will someone in the higher levels acknowledge it? Who knows.

If they do, will any of their ideas be effective? Again, who knows.

Government acknowledgement and assistance would be nice but it’s hardly something our industry has come to rely on. What’ll appear first, decent harvest weather or government acknowledgement?

Yes , last year there was a lot . Hopefully you don’t have many rocks . The ground will have to firm up somehow or you will have to wait until the ground freezes if possible.
As much as it sucks you should go get a new spare feeder chain for the combine if you plan on still straight cutting . Unless you land rolled every acre at seeding .
Our wheat is half way flat already , if it goes down the lifters will go on the swather . I will not even try to straight cut flat wheat after last year . We gained 50% more time in the combine swathing ahead . The damage you will do to your headers and combines will not be worth it trying to straight cut flat cereals . Canola you may have no choice because of shatter losses .

Will not have to go far to see what is happening with
                  Standing canola and wheat.

                    Ground just white here.
                    Looking like '16 again.
Hoping we finish in November and done with drying by Christmas.

Only this time, 75% is laying out.
Canola dry in May I guess.

I actually miss the days when we didn't have long range forecasts at our fingertips.
                    More hope, less anger.

This wheat will not take much more , most likely be flat in 3-4 hrs if it continues to snow ..

The other field has more snow and is a lot lower to ground , not flat yet but will be shortly if snow don’t stop very soon .
