Besides where are you getting your information on Europe getting a -20c blast? Currently Europe is warm - particularly southern Europe which is enjoying a relative heatwave for the time of year with temps nearing 30C. The October forecast for Northern Europe is showing some indication of a cool spell - but only 1-3C cooler than normal certainly nothing like -20C temperatures.
