Louis Dreyfus is selling out to P & H

Just got an email from LDC.

Elevators to be sold are: Dawson Creek, BC; Rycroft, AB; Joffre, AB; Lyalta, AB; Wilkie (Brass), SK; Aberdeen, SK; Tisdale, SK; Glenavon (Kegworth), SK; Virden, MB; and Rathwell, MB.

LDC has been doing business in Canada for over 80 years and we remain committed to this important market. We will continue with our mission of connecting Canadian growers with local and international food markets – with a greater focus on value-added processing.

We will retain our grain terminal in Port Cartier, QC and our canola crushing and refinery facility in Yorkton, SK as well as our Calgary, AB office.

LDC has always had a larger targeted return on investment than other companies.

Brandt Randles is a very detail oriented and disciplined bean counter. I don't mean that in a bad way.

Yes this is fantastic. Less competition. Wow. Right on
P and H very slow to buy canola hopefully it gets better otherwise will be a major loss.

Knew something was up last year Dreyfus seemed unorganized almost contracted canola and waited 2 months after agreed date to take it. Couldn’t get cheque’s same day. Was odd. Since they used to be a good place to deal.

Lost track but wasn't someone trying to take over P&H just a couple years ago? If not betting someone soon will be.

I wonder if the locations where both companies have a terminal, P&H will be forced to sell the new asset to Richardson, Patterson, or other?

(This did happen when SWP bought out Agricore United.)

I have been wondering the same about Tisdale? P&H has put a bunch of money into their elevator and handles a lot more grain. Its kind of slow at L.D. so its good if there is not a lot of trucks if you haul to them.

That also says a lot about how the world views Canada as a place to invest. In the era of Trudeau, it is now apparently safer to invest in a literal war zone, with rampant corruption, and a history of nationalizing all assets. And they are probably right.

The company says this will provide farmer customers with increased access to more competitive offerings in grain trading, handling and merchandising, as well as full-range crop input products backed by leading agronomic solutions.

Just another blow to the Ag sector.
Just watch the input prices rise to pay for the acquisition. They will provide farmers only with one thing ..... a bigger bill.
Guess we will all be getting a no 1 for all grains delivered as they will be more competitive now .... ya good one!!
