    Regina Urban Reserve

Not sure how Regina is going to grow to the 300,000 people it wants if the Indians keep buying land on the outskirts. This property is a stones throw from my house and some of my land. Interesting to know what they paid for this.

Through Treaty Land Entitlement, George Gordon First Nation has acquired 579 acres of land near Saskatchewan Polytechnic.

With prayer, ceremony and speeches on Friday, George Gordon First Nation celebrated the acquisition of 579 acres of land on the southern outskirts of Regina for an urban reserve.
The Regina Research Farm lands, acquired through a Treaty Land Entitlement agreement, are located at 5000 Wascana Parkway, near the Wascana Country Club, in the RM of Sherwood.
“George Gordon has reached an important milestone with the purchase of the property,” the band said in a news release. “The acquisition of the property gives George Gordon First Nation a significant opportunity to participate in Regina’s local economy.”
The ribbon was cut for the new land by two of the band’s oldest members — Henry Bird, 96, and Nancy Bitternose, 98.
The community intends to develop a concept plan with input from members, the City of Regina, and RM of Sherwood.
George Gordon First Nation is based in the Punnichy area.

Better than buying farmland in the middle of no where with no development potential.

But it might be time to revisit the taxation issue. Is the land exempt from rural or urban municipal taxation?
Infrastructure costs money to build and maintain. Hospitals and schools cost money to operate.

Surprised they haven't changed their name yet - George Gordon doesn't sound very first nationy.

A dozen reserves own land in and around Regina and still cant figure out what to do with it. These guys over east put up solar panels and a windmill that's always shut down. This is Regina, not like you can throw up a mega mall or casino or anything and expect to return any sort of profit. The big boom yrs are over. Some farmer will probably just rent it and it sits. $9m dollar investment to get $75,000 per yr rent.

Hope they don’t put a toll booth on 33 highway. 😂

Why don’t they just give them the Global Tramsportation Hub. That could be headquarters for trans mountain. At least someone would be there. Lol
