Furrow I 100% agree. How much money do you throw at a $9.00/by Canola Crop. Need at least 30bpa to break even.

How many of those patchy acres were seeded with Lumiderm treated seed? I would say this has been a very challenging year to establish canola....period!

That may be rhe case in some areas but most of mine has seed just germinated 5 or 6 days ago you wouldn’t see that from the air. Some near bolting really crappy and the other just coming now.

Thanks for the advice all. Unfortunately it looks tougher than your pics furrow,but as an old neighbour used to say” you don’t say whoa in a mud hole”. Money is already spent so might as well try to salvage what we can.

Yep its a mess. I have some full flower and cotelyn mix. Going to need a long frost free fall. With the cool nights we have been having I have my doubts.

50% or more of the canola will be garbage grade this fall. Green and frozen. Lock in spreads now. July 3 and temp of 17 and cloudy all day here. Will need two summers to mature.

Fact or fiction who knows but guys here with hailed crops often apply Giberellic acid and or calcium cabonate. Spelling maybe be in correct.

Gives wounded plants a boost but has to be done quickly.

But as i said really dont know if its old wives tale or not

Canola looks good here but very slow to flower.

Beekeepers still feeding bees, even if in a field of flowering sweet clover.

To cool to fly and no nectar in the flowers yet.

Strange. Climate emergency for sure.

Crop here is a bit beat up from last Monday's storm.

A wee bit of small tapioca size hail and strong wind driven rain ....it was coming sideways.

Hard to justify spending a bunch on fungicides on this crop.

There has been good moisture since it started raining but came a little late to prevent early damage from dryness....but there has been enough rain and humidity now that if the crop was really good it might warrant a fungicide app. "Forecast"(ahem) for rain is now more believable than it was is the six weeks after May first.....the pump is primed.

Pea roots are stressed, no fungicide app will fix that. Early flowering.
Flax is leaning east ftom the strong west storm winds. Early signs of flowering.
Some wheat leaves look thrashed. Wheat is heading. Won't take too long to be too late for fusarium protection but could protect the flag leaf.
Yellow Mustard gearing up for the big bloom.....what ever is there.
Canola bolting with afew flowers....acceptable stand. FAR FROM CALENDER PICTURE PERFECT.....seen alot worse in the area, some better.



And like people are saying.....then there's commodity prices....
