Errol, not CNN. You cant be serious about those guys as any reliable source of news.

Look for the alternative media to find out what the real deal is. They will tell you about the real pain on the ground in china. Their GDP was shaved more than a point before the trade war.

Remember the main factors in this dispute, the difference in export numbers, currency controls, the fed, the reserve currency and the wide income disparity between the two countries. US house hold income is 8 times higher. Logically do the math and who weathers the storm better?

MFP 2.0 announcement today by USDA.
$15 billion to be paid out

2019 is an election year in Canada, interesting to see if anything similar happens in Canada.

I hear the Chinese are going to retaliate by stopping rare earth elements being exported. Surprise china, those go into all the junk components you make and 2nd surprise we have massive deposits of them here in NA. We have every resource you have and one you don't - affluent consumers to buy it.

Data centers in Canada are closing because power is too expensive in the areas that have good network interconnects (Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal)

Canada has some incredible engineering talent, working on molten salt reactors, quantum computing, and other thibgs that would blow a farmers mind. However, we have no cohesive mechanism to embrace this technology or get it into the world. Always has been a problem even dating back to the Avro Arrow.

A lot of investment is in pot right now. And web 2.0/3.0 startups which is another bubble.

But to put everything into perspective:

jazz, you are right . . . Fox News would never offer this perspective of the trade war.
