    NIMBY's win another one.

    https://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-san-bernardino-solar-renewable-energy-20190228-story.html https://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-san-bernardino-solar-renewable-energy-20190228-story.html

    Quote from the article:
California's largest county has banned the construction of large solar and wind farms on more than 1 million acres of private land, bending to the will of residents who say they don’t want renewable energy projects industrializing their rural desert communities northeast of Los Angeles.

And we are supposed to believe that by applying a carbon tax, and consulting everyone, and making projects gender neutral, and by making projects green and carbon neutral, will give us Social License to build energy projects. When even the ultimate virtue signalling, solar panels, in a region where they actually make better economic sense than most, still can't get built due to opposition from NIMBY's.

We need to accept that these people are anti-progress, and anti-industry, of any type, we will never satisfy them, the bar will just keep getting raised.

Note that this was on private land And we think we are going to get a pipeline built on public land, if we can just satisfy one more special interest group, and with just a little more social license?

Wait for expropriation of private land for pet projects if the Libs or NDP remain in control. That wacko McKenna is so out of touch it is any even funny. Fortunately I am optimistic the corrupt Libs will be removed.

Like the Land Bills 19,24,36+50 introduced by the Conservative party of Alberta nearly a decade ago you mean? That gave the AB cabinet the authority to expropriate private land without compensation and specifically not appealable in a court of law. Bet you were Ok with it back then though - because the monkeys were wearing blue suits.

This is where I see the us constitution has it over ours with entrenched private property rights. Even so there is Ultimate Domain but there are tests in the way in order for that to apply. All we are promised here is peace, order, and good government. The third being lip service and bullshit half the time. Politics these days are so campy. You’re labeled either or no room for an independent mind to question both sides and think of solutions that transcends political spectrum. It’s easy to criticize but finding solutions, even wacky ones, is how we move forward.
