    Chinese Technology

As many of you have heard, Sask Tel is buying Chinese technology in an effort to advance 3G to 5G. Ryan Meilli, the NDP leader here thinks that we should discontinue this relationship due to the possibility of security leaks. Our allies US, Australia and New Zealand have already discontinued their relationships with Chinese technology. It seems like the cost to hire other foreign firms to install 5G would costs us millions.

Number 1 : Why do we need any foreign entity installing our technology - what the “h” is wrong with our own techs? We can steal technology and intellectual property as well as anyone can. How hard is it to open the box, examine their technology and copy it?

Number 2 : What about the rest of Canada? What is Bell Canada doing down East?

The news announcers are so inept because they don’t challenge anybody.

Sasktel has said they are sticking with HAAwei and don't see any security risks ...probably because they can't find them....

If 5 other countries say there is a problem and you ignore it ...who is to blame????

The president of Sasktel, the premier of Saskatchewan, or the Prime Minister of Canada????

All three should be held accountable.

Is anyone surprised that when you let a foreign country's technology be the backbone of your telecommunication/internet service that there is the possibility of cyber-spying?

There has probably never been a time in history that there has been less personal "privacy".

Good luck that SaskPingWan. You are officially screwed.

                Huawie - pronounced WahWay.

Yes I was referring to Meilli or however it’s spelt. Judging by the intellectual property they have stolen and espionage Chinese nationals have engaged in abroad they are dangerous. Including their 5g network. Between them, the Russians and NK the barrage of cyber attacks, spying, theft, and meddling they account for most of it. It’s a no brainer to be wary letting them in
