    Agreed. China is famous for reverse engineering and duplication. The average citizen expects to buy counterfeit goods at a fraction of the price of the genuine article. This includes movies, music and any electronic household device. It is now their culture.

      From a Canadian farmer point of view, it doesn't seem much different than when Canadian government Institutions, Canadian University Agriculture Depts, and Canadian Grain Farmers kick in money to develop new cereals, oilseeds or pulse varieties, and in no time, those grains are grown in other countries that we as grain farmers(which we have contributed in funding via taxes and/or checkoffs) compete against. Does it hurt the government,,,no. Does it hurt universities and researchers,,,no. Does it hurt farmers,,,of course.

        It has been said that the only product Apple has that makes them money is the iPhone. With that said, it’s a tough sell to convince people to buy a new $1000 phone every year for no other reason than to have a new model number.
        Coyote fur prices are taking a hit because China has slowed down buying Canada Goose jackets (with fur trimmed hoods) due to the executive cyber terrorist spy lady (or whatever the story is) in Vancouver was arrested. Haven’t seen that hit the news yet.

          Grain and Feed;
          'A senior Chinese official said the country will move to produce at least 600 million tonnes of grain in 2019, reports Xinhua Net.

          The country also vowed to keep its grain sown area stable at 1.65 billion mu (110 million hectares) next year, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs Han Changfu said at a work conference.

          To boost grain production, the country aims to cultivate 800 million mu of high-standard farmland by 2020, he said.'
          We are very small players in the grain markets... either we become more productive.... China, India, and Asia Pacific now dwarf western Canadian Ag...

            Tom . . . this also doesn't reflect China's rising influence on Africa and potential African production.

              The narrative that the first world will continue the feed the 3rd world is quickly vanishing. We should be concerned. Our industry is good as dead if there are no export markets no matter what value added we do.

                  Bloomberg BNN is taking about this.
                  There are two companies (Huawei and Oppa) that are serious competition in all of Asia who offer a phone similar to Apple with many of same features for 10% to 25% of the cost.

                  If that’s correct why would there be any IPhone sales there?
