    Fertilizer Futures.

Ya you read it. Why isn't there any? I guess cartels don't want them anyway. No "price discovery" needed? There is a futures market for the main component of Nitrogen fertilizer...natural gas, so why not nitrogen based fertilizer.

    Isn't fertilizer just another commodity?

Is there any fertilizer futures trading?

Urea is well over $100/tonne higher than what I paid last fall....why?

Because Brad wall wanted a board seat so he let potash and agrium merge after calling potash a strategic resource.....he wanted farmers money to get elected then took care of those that would give him nice per diems. ....

So one exists! Have to take a closer look. No open interest? if that is the right term?

          Maybe "volume".....huh?

So what drove it from the lows of last May/June to where it is now? Geez you would think May would have been the high.

You know how "handicapped" I am when it comes to this stuff..... what happened?

Kinda like the barley, wheat and peas contract on Winnipeg. When the trade refuses to use it it loses relevance. Not enough players left to use it. ****ing oligarchs. No better than Russia.

The story i was told was that some fert is going south of the border because of tariffs USA has against some country’s which is putting price up here....whether that is true or not I don’t know...it sucked me in and I bought my fert ....after it went up !!

Thank you 101. Not really an explanation I was hoping to read. Backyarditis means nothing. My goodness, how can some people even think about next year's needs with so much crop still out? Even the grain quality hit some people are going to take will cut into their ability to afford higher "N" prices. We are over $100/tonne higher here than we were last year. And some N fixing pulse crop prices are in the shitter. Bad crop planning combo...poor pulse prices and high N prices.
