The government can’t tax the country into prosperity no matter how you spin it.
The gov’t cannot give anything to anyone without taking it away from someone else.
A carbon tax in Canada will have little to no effect on CO2 levels world wide.

Just glanced through. Second or third paragraph said it all to me. Low income, so probably spending the least on evil carbon pollution, will be the biggest recipients.
Another wealth distribution scheme set up by the pinko’s.

I would like to know how it was calculated saskatxhewan would get the most per person? Is this going to go to the natives?
I could see a scenario where us farmers will pay the most in the country and some in our province will receive all that plus some from other areas.
Somebody is paying and someone is receiving. If everyone is getting their money back what a good job creator. Canada post is smiling.

I would ask, is it possible to receive credit for sequestering carbon? Calculate amounts per acre, by each crop. Submit the invoice to your local MP. Maybe a class action lawsuit.
Might require scientific proofs, but doubt that would be difficult.
Mr. Trudeau might not like this can of worms.

In the USA these credits are called RINS I believe, and There was a mechanism to buy and sell them, in the ethanol industry.
              Maybe a stretch, IDK.

Well I m sure apas and all our farm reps are working on that question of how to get this to work for us farmers.
They talk about it every day on the news.

                  APAS

I don’t believe APAS has defended farmers in quite these terms of credits.
APAS asks Senate ag committee to reconsider carbon tax
Recognize farmers’ ability to reduce green house gas emissions through carbon sequestration

May 8, 2018 – For Immediate Release – The Agricultural Producers Association of Saskatchewan maintains its opposition to the imposition of carbon pricing policy on Saskatchewan agricultural producers, a message that APAS President Todd Lewis will bring to the Senate today.

The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Forestry is meeting to continue its study of items related to farming in Bill C-74 and Lewis will be presenting.

“We need to be very clear,” Lewis says. “The Carbon Backstop policy applies mainly to Saskatchewan, and to our members who make up a very large part of Canada’s agricultural industry.”

Lewis will be reminding the Senate that agricultural producers are unable to pass along any increased costs resulting from a carbon tax to consumers, and that farmers are not being recognized for the work they are already doing to reduce carbon emissions through carbon sequestration.

Lewis also notes the irony in Bill C-74’s definition of a farmer as “…a person that carries on a farming business with a reasonable expectation of profit.”

“The provisions contained in this Bill work to make that definition less credible,” Lewis says.

However, they are saying “ reduce carbon emissions through carbon sequestration. “
