    Saving Canada

Suppose you are Doug Ford newly elected as Ontario's premier. Ontario and by extension Canada is one sick puppy. What actions are needed to keep Canada from the inevitable sinking. MASSIVE cuts to the snivel service are of course job one but that will not be enough. The main problem is that debt in Canada is SO high that it will take enormous economic growth to get in front of it. Given that no country in the world is planning to accept imports, (the only one that does now is the US and we all know how that is going) how are you going to produce the kind of growth needed to service let alone pay back any of the debt? The domestic consumer is also broke and has been living off the credit card for years and needs to deleverage as well so demand for more goods and services will simply not be there. Bottom line Canuckistan is beyond saving and will sink regardless of what happens June 7.

Lots of cuts to civil service. Elimination of separate school system. Cuts to education. Massive cuts to social spending. Elimination of all 'green' subsidies and programs. Eliminate cap and trade. Splitting dollars saved to debt, long-term healthcare and infrastructure.

Pretty much take healthcare out of the total budget, and cut everything left in 1/2.

In case you haven't noticed, all countries of the world operate on an exports are good and imports are bad trade policy. Witness non tariff trade barriers in the EU on beef and durum from Canada. Pulse tariffs in India and tariffs on canola seed imports into China to cite obvious examples. Basically imports are not welcome any where in the world so an economy is not able to grow through increasing imports. Even if we get a pipeline built to tidewater it not like the Chinese oil market is under supplied by Russia and the the Middle East. So even though I support Northern Gateway, Kinder Morgan etc. that will only have a limited impact on growth.

The only viable solution is to stop postponing the inevitable, default on the debt, and start over. There is no other way out in the long term.

Here's an Idea that nobody is comfortable with in this country: Cut the natives off of there paycheques every month, and scrap the Indian affairs dept , and we will be out of debt in 5-10 years!

                  Add all bilingual programs
                  Gender subsidies
Alternative energy, carbon or l “green” scams
Lots of line items covered under healthcare are not healthcare.

The federal budget is only not balanced due to a spending problem.
