Donald Trump speech at American Farm Bureau convention video - what do you think?

I saw this on youtube and thought others might like seeing it - Trump is certainly different.

First US president to attend since 1992...

The president praised the history of farmers in creating the country. "We know our nation was founded by farmers. Our independence was won by farmers. Our continent was tamed by farmers. So true," the president said. "Our armies have been fed by farmers, and made of farmers. And throughout our history, our farmers have always, always, always led the way.

"All American businesses, including American farmers, will be able to deduct 100% of the cost of new equipment in the year you make the investment," the president said. "That is something that I think is going to be the sleeper of the bill. You deduct it all in one year instead of many years." Then, hitting on an issue close to the American Farm Bureau Federation policy, the president pointed to the doubling of the estate-tax exemption from $11 million per married couple to $22 million. "And from now on, most family farms and small business owners will be spared the punishment of the deeply unfair estate tax, known as the death tax -- so you can keep your farms in your family," Trump said to a roaring standing ovation.

    Watch the effect.

Based on the proposals of our government last summer in terms of what was proposed and what still may occur in terms of tax changes I would suggest that our current federal government is more interested in protecting the growth and wealth of the large publicly and privately held corporate entities and foreign interests than ensuring that our family corporate and proprietorship farms succeed and grow for multiple generations.

Primary agriculture is a bedrock renewable industry of North America and ensuring its growth and prosperity is key to long term economic health for country. it is embarrassing the lack of support it gets from the current Federal government.

This is great news for US farmers and everyone in the US. For Canada, no so much. IMHO

There was a lot of cheering when it was announced that Crop Insurance would be added to the farm bill.Would be interesting to see details on that.

Or as an American farmer friend of mine says "Whoever wrote POTUS Trump's speech for the Farm Bureau meeting knows something about agriculture...a farm family of four making $75,000 a year needs a $20,000,000 inheritance tax exemption so they can pass this .375 % return on investment opportunity on to the next generation death tax free...MAGA...making agriculture great again...woo woo..."
