There is a flock that has been overwintering on the university grounds by the weir. As long as there is food and water the cold doesn't seem to matter. Plus they aren't shot at every day all winter.

A large flock stayed at Gardiner Dam all last winter because there was not much snow. They could access feed and there is always open water be low the turbines.

We have a flock that winter in the horse pasture... Dunno how they survive they look miserable. Probably about 35 or so... Cheviot lake which is by patience lake mine rarely freezes so they stay there all winter... Plus lots of food around usually with the crush plant and Cargil elevator close by.

You guys must be mistaken and likely just don't know your birds. We know Canada geese all fly south for the winter.

              They are likely penguins...

The only water "foul" around here has been a lack of precipitation last summer and fall....oops wrong spelling.
